What's the brand people are using to slap up water pumps (covers) these days?
I was using Permatex SUPER "300" FORM-A-GASKET sealant.
Pump cover leaked. Slow drips from the very bottom.
As you read, I'm verifying the flush edges, with glass and supra-fine sandpaper.
Keep in mind it's a holiday weekend...

Permatex makes a 'Water Pump and Thermostant Housing' RTV silicone.
I have used it on autos with great sucess. I have only seen it in a small tube at Auto Zone or Advance Auto. I am sure others carry it.

I've just used regular old Permatex high-temp RTV in black. Nothing exotic.

For water pump/thermostat housings I usually use the good old evil stuff called "Number 2", non hardening gasket sealant. It's especially good where there might be some slight liquid residue since it sticks to everything, wet or not, even with antifreeze present. I've been wary of the RTV's which require an absolutely dry surface to bond properly. Both Permatex and a similar brand sold at Advance Auto have a "Number 2" stuff. It'll come off of your hands with rubbing alcohol, but forget trying anything else....it's really agressive, but does the job properly. Slight downside is that it's hard to clean off of the surfaces on the next repair, but trade that off with the tendency of RTV's to contaminate the surfaces preventing anything from bonding in the future........
My 2 cents anyway since you asked.....

I'll see your two cents and raise it a nickle.

I saved $.07 and went with Bud's suggestion, which was $.20 more expensive than Jon's, but regardless there are no leaks now.
Thanks folks!:bikes

On old K100's, with the standard bars (roughly 7 inch rise), the throttle cable:
Part # 32 73 1 457 378
...IS IN NO WAY INTERCHANGEABLE...
with # 32 73 1 457 016
.... even though BMW says it is so. :nono
