OK, so I'm trying to sell a bike and I'm not having much luck advertising it in the usual spots.
That made me wonder - how do people sell their stuff? When I lived in Boston, I sold everything through the Want ADvertiser, a local classifieds rag.
So - how do you sell your old stuff?

I know several people who do very well selling parts on EBay. Maybe not a whole bike though?

I'm a pack-rat. I don't sell anything.

Could be da bike....A 99 S is a tough sell right now.
If ya own a BMW ya look in IBMWR.
If ya don't own a BMW most use Cycle trader. Craigs list is good but I find most people don't know about it unless they have been around the area or bike for a bit.
Most of my parts I have sold through IBMWR or ADV Rider. All my bikes I have sold through Cycle Trader.
Good luck

A friend of mine sold three vehicles, one Motorcycle and two cages in about four days on eBay. Make sure you get cashier's check and it clears before doing anything.
Another idea is doing consignment with a local shop.

I sold a set of shocks on IBMWR, and a set of Bags on Ebay. I got what I wanted for both, and it was pretty painless. If you spend as much as I do at my dealer, see if you can work out a consignment with him at his shop. tack on the 5 percent or whatever he wants to do it, and remind him you are buying a new bike and the related new bike service from him too. Just a thought.

I've had great success with Cycle Trader for selling bikes here in the west. I put it in print with a picture as well as on the internet. Have sold to buyers in CA, UT, OR as well as WA.
Parts and accessories? eBay has been so successful for me I have sold items that I now wish I hadn't. :cry
I have never sold an item on eBay for less than I would have asked for it at a swap meet and most for many times that asking price. (It's almost criminal!) :evil
