View Full Version : WB rally-bad influence

WB was my first rally. I got hooked on ice cream because of the various shops promoted by certain members on this forum. I am now the proud owner of a Cuisinart, model ICE-50BC, ice cream maker.
While everyone else was riding the rustic roads, I hit the creamery's.
Anyone else do anything like this?

As far as I am concerned, there is no better reason for a ride than knowing there's a good ice cream parlour at the other end. If there are some nice twisty roads between me and the ice cream, so much the better.

Have joined one of our support groups yet?

You are entitled to 3 visits as part of your membership.

Start practicing the following statement:

"Hi, I am ______________. And I am an ice cream junkie."

The BMWMOA 12 step program is a bit different in that you need to create 12 new ice cream flavors in 12 days.

Good luck.

The 12 flavors reminds me of one of the places I hit. It was kind of east of Beaver dam maybe two miles off the highway between Columbus and Beaver Dam. Just a small homeowned place. The young waitress said if I could eat one scoop of each of their flavors it was on the house. I'm old, a lightweight, with a oxygen tank. She assumed a sure win. Wrong.

Let the record show that yours truly already illuminated the direct connection between motorcycling and ice cream (well, custard!) in the FoA2 thread. In that thread I pointed out that the FoA1 and FoA2 routes cross at one distinct location: Ted Drewes in STL.

Now, if you'll all excuse me, I need to go eat some ice cream! It's a hunnerd frickin' degrees here!

When I got home from WB, I was mildly horrified by my weight.

Since I got home, I've avoided ice cream and have lost 7 pounds.

20 to go!

Just remember when someone says you need to get into shape, pear is shape.

I'm odd. I like Dairy Queen better than almost any ice cream place I've been to, including Ted Drewe's. Fortunately, DQ ice cream is 95% fat free, so they tell me, and my digestive system agrees. Fatty foods cause all sorts of unsavory things to happen. That said, I released lots of my dollars at the homemade ice cream booth in West Bend... the maple ice cream--yum!

Not only ice cream.....
No Wisconsin motorcycle ride is truly complete without a visit to one of those rural bars that serve home made krautburgers (yes. they mix kraut in with the ground beef for a sort of meat loaf texture. :fart )

BTW the better Wisconsin taverns have the most excellent Royal Bohemian Nitro Horseradish sauce. A dot of this stuff the size of your pinkie nail makes your eyes water within 18 inches!

Some other great Wisconsin bar items are Pickled Northern, lutefisk, etc.

Sorry to make you guys hungry but I'm going to pound up about 300 miles in The Driftless Area and Kickapoo Valley tomorrow and am craving a good greasy meal.:thumb

Actually the guy on the HD will probably provide more incentive to stay in shape than anyone else-he's become rather trim and slim as of late! Way to go, Kevin! :thumb

In the past year, we've had several little Mexican ice cream parlors pop up. Oh my! Are they ever good! They all make homemade ice cream and fruit popsicles and also have some unusual flavors. If you've never been to one and happen to pass by, take the time to stop!

Ice cream? You like Ice Cream. Accept only the best. Come to the Green Mountain Rally and the nation's standard bearer is just a short ride from the rally site.

I'd hardly say I was slim :laugh I don't think anyone can be called slim at 240lbs. Thanks for the compliment though!

I'll explain-I was making light of the fact she was riding with a Harley rider period, not that the Harley rider was the cause for the stop at the ice cream parlor.
"I live in new England I deal with this problem Year Round"-Gail.
Maybe I could have said-"Find a friend who rides another brand so it won't be a year round problem",making no reference to ice cream whatsoever. If you disregard the sign above Gail in her post, you'll inderstand my 1st post. That's a problem with posting on forums-no voice inflection!
So much for an attempt at humor.

It is no wonder that ice cream and motorcycles go together so well!! They have so much in common. Just like motorcycles, there is no bad ice cream just some that is so much better that others. Bikes and ice cream, from the smallest to the largest they are all wonderful. So relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. I gotta go my mouth is watering and I have a sudden urge to ride somewhere.....

Dan is a friend of mine and he knows I lurk here. He also knows how much work I have put into getting fit. I don't want to speak for Dan but I think I'm safe in saying he was just throwing a nice compliment my way and in no way meant any slight to you or was offended by your comment. It's all good! :thumb

the vast majority of riders ride for the amber liquid stops instead of ice cream.Just imagine if all bars were ice cream parlors instead! No need for designated drivers either.I'd be 300 instead of 162.:laugh

I don't know...

If you figure on having two beers after a ride, I know I can't have just one :)

http://home.comcast.net/~kevin.g.grant/beer.jpg

or have a small ice cream (SheRidesABeemer taught me the word "small" ;) I still struggle with it from time to time)

http://home.comcast.net/~kevin.g.grant/icecream.jpg

It is pretty much the same. If you like a richer heavier beer you are better off with the ice cream.

Just sayin ice cream isn't as evil as people make it out to be...... ;)
