Well not always. And I've never smelled boiled vomit but I imagine it's something like this rank odor.

It comes from the oil cooler. It's saturated with rotting organic matter from my last big ride that gets cooked on every ride. So every time I start forward from a stop I get hit by a fragrant wind not too different from the most noxious breeze to come off the most polluted beach at low tide. Blech.

It might be time to clean my bike. :ha

Thanks Scott, perfect timing.

I'm sitting at work clearing my back log of e-mail (and reading the Forum of course), and now I'm imagining that: my mug of black tea smells funny.:sick

You camped at Camp Beers it could be anything ?

Sorry, it was a long walk to the port-a-johns, and I just couldn't hold it anymore! I thought it would help cool down the bike, too!

I am still wondering what life experiences, both experientially and olfactory, lead you to the analogy of boiled vomit? At the same time I am wondering; why am I asking this question and do I really want to know?

I am not certain which should be back flushed first, the bike or you. :lol

I started to choke a bit upon reading this, and then I thankfully realized I have no idea what boiled vomit smells like. I must lead a sheltered life.

It's easy to make and doesn't take much heat, if you start with fresh supplies.

there is still an odd smell in the camper???

That smell was there when we got there!!! I thought it was cause we were next to the trash cans.

Now in terms of the vomit and Knary's bike, did you perhaps enjoy any tequilla?

Does this smell any worse than over ripe cat litter boxes in summer? That haven't been cleaned by cats' teenage owner in spite of regular and effusive promises?

We have an old house with a dirt floor basement. The local cats have, for years, had access to the basement via a few hard to locate holes. Yes, you guessed it. It's a giant litter box. On a hot humid summer day after a good rain, the bouquet is unmistakable.

Knary,I remember when you bought the house. You were not expecting eau de cat pee to be a part of the ambience. That would be called fug, anyway.
If you are anywhere near a pulp/paper mill, get some of their discarded "mill felt", the stuff they use on the long conveyers that catches the pulp and carries it till it's dry and becomes paper.Cut a piece the size of your dirt floor.Lay it down.Cats don't like this.
Try your local scrapyard for when the mill felt comes in.

Well not always. And I've never smelled boiled vomit but I imagine it's something like this rank odor.Being curious, I leaned that "boiled vomit" warrants three pages of links on Google. And this thread is at the top.

Who would have guessed?
