Last year I experienced a left low side fall my 85 K100RT while on a rain soaked exit ramp on I-95 just south of Baltimore. It was not a severe fall but the fairing and a few other bits took some damage. I have addressed the fairing. I am now turning my attention to the front end. After the spill I was able to ride the bike home. I immediately noticed that the steering was not correct. It seemed the handlebars were slightly tweaked to the right. There was also minor damage to the left bar end, yet it did not seem the handlebars had been bent. As I drove further toward home (and the adrenaline starting to subside and the pain in my upper chest began to intensify) I noticed that there was a pronounced "bounce" to the front end. The fairing and the left case took most of the damage. The bike slid along the ramp for about 100ft on the left side of the fairing and case. The only apparent physical damage on the front end is the minor damage to the left bar end and the slight tweak to the right of the handlebars. What/where should I be looking for damage on this front end? The triple clamps? Tubes? Bearingss? Or should I just plan on replacing the whole front end? It doesn't seem that there was much damage up front but there is definately a problem with the steering and suspension that needs to corrected. Thanks.
