Has anyone ever thought about setting up a section of the forum where members can go to match up for shorter/day/weekend rides in the areas they live in. I've been on other sites that have regional forums where you can go and post area specific info about rides or whatever else that might have local interest. Is this something that could work here?

Sounds like an idea worth trying. If some other sites have already proven the usefulness then its worth a try.

Good idea, a little overlap with the "local rally/Chartered club" area, but different enough.

So what size is a region? And would this impact the chartered clubs and their forums?

I like the idea. ADV has a decent regional forum.

I don't get to pleasure ride much. But it would be nice to see what's going on. If folks are getting together. Some of us have taken it upon ourselves to have little shindigs.

BIG GIG 2 coming soon to NYC :dance :drink

Good times. I guess an option would be to you the chartered clubs and local events forum to promote local type stuff. If it get real crowded then break it up into a regional forum.

Gotta say....there is a much larger active user base over at ADV than here. Might not be worth the trouble just yet, but it could also potentially attract more forum participation.

I don't belong to a club except for this one and I am always looking for day trip companions. I always end up sending private message to friends on this forum to see if they are available on any given potential riding day. So if there was a place where we could post ride messages that would be great.

I bet there are a lot of folks in your situation. It's a good idea. Keep promoting it.

Or instead of it being titled Regional it could be "This weeks rides"

Looks like a good start Hodag.

Maybe California and Texas separate since they are so darn big.

Most important to me is to just do it. By the time the perfect plan is in place it will be time for the Big Gig2 in Gotham.

So for you folks who are tuning in late:

Northeast this weekend
