I have an 02 RT. The front tire just started showing some cupping on the left side. How fast should I replace this tire? There seems to be alot of tread left on the tire.

TD4,
How many miles on the tire? How does it handle? What pressure do you run?

A Michelin, I'd guess.
I'd say, ride it till the middle wears out and don't worry about the cupping. Unless, of course, it is affecting your traction in some way. I solved my cupping problems by changing to Pirellis.

Most RTs I have seen including mine wear the same way on the front tire. I had the same question early on and was given many answers that I did not believe such as the crown in the road causes it; if that were the case other bike tires would wear the same way.
After 30,000 miles on my Rt I believe it is part due to vertically opposed heads and wieght distrbution of the Rt that cause it to push to one side during accelleration (maybe heavy acceleration) because of the torque. Sit in stop position and rev the motor. Feel it pull to one side. I ride agressively at times and show more side wear than my buddy with same bike but they both wear more to one side. Not sure why other oilers dont have same issue.
This may only be my interpretation and have learned to live with the uneven wear on front tire. Have had several brand tires on the bike and they all have worn the same way. Now the front is replaced on judgement call considering overall wear.
The great satisfaction with this bike have made tire wear a non issue over time.
