Last weekend was a great riding weekend. On Sunday I rode to Starve Rock. I think I saw one BMW while riding to/from Starve Rock.
The rest were mostly Harleys, GW and some crotch rockets.
Get those bikes on the road and lets ride. I know we just came back from the rally, but pretty soon winter will be around the corner. That's the time to add more stuff to the bike.
I am planning a Sat/Sun trip. Either to Green County, Wi or Galena,IL area. Ride and camp on Sat. Ride all day Sunday and head home. Anyone interested?

I did not see many riders this past weekend either. I was traveling by car with the family, only saw 1 BMW from Chicago to Wisconsin border? Plenty of Harleys though

Being so close to West Bend, I suspect the locals are rallied out, spooling down a bit, and catching up on chores for a few days.
I just came back from a 3 day 2000 km ride into the Kootenays and back, some of which involved some, uh, fairly intense riding with some buddies on crotch rockets, and I am now enjoying being off the bike for a few days.

I am thinking about riding HY 45 from Milwaukee to Mundelein, Il this weekend. That is about a 2 hour ride.
Can anyone suggest a good local restaurant in the Mundelein area?

They were all at the MotoGP in Monterey, CA last weekend.
150K riders each day for that event, I'm told.
We had a ball.

I am in Elgin, and I would be very interested in a nice ride with some fellow enthusiast's - question is when?
Unfortunate for me, I work 6 days a week, so Sunday would be the only good day for me.
And I work for Chicago Harley Davidson - lol
Hope to see some of you guys soon :)

I think the answer to "where are all the BMW's?" is simple.
The percentage of motorcycles sold for BMW must only be a couple of percent of the total sales in Canada or the USA.
I normally only see 2 to 4 bikes on a 45 minute commute from my house, to my office in Toronto. Normally, none of them are BMWs.
When I am travelling on vacation, I also don't normally see many BMW bikes, until I get to the rally of course.
Regards, Rod.

I was just out again this weekend.
From Janesville, WI to Galena, IL.
(Great backroads in the "driftless" area of WI/IL)
From Galena south on Blackjack Road (18mi. of NICE twisties) to Savanna.
(Nice ride along the Mississippi)
From Savanna, IL to Oregon, IL.
(Corn)
From Oregon up along the Rock River back to Janesville.
Only saw one Beemer and that was at Poopy's in Savanna.
(Yup, Poopy's. It's a HD place but the food is good and the music is LIVE)
I'll be out again this weekend :eat

Frank,
You have have seen me! I was in the area on Saturday and Sunday. There aren't many BMW's in this area since the closest dealer is just over an hour away. I can't do this weekend but perhaps another time. I've got a 6 day trip planned at the end of the August to circumvent lakes Michigan and Superior. Is there anyone who has done this ride? I've already looked at the posted tread.

Hi,
I'm interested in riding with fellow BMW's -and yes, for us working folks, "extra" time is always a challenge, so how about we invoke the strategy of "figuring it out and making it happen" ?
I'm in SW burbs near Oak Lawn

Post reminds me of my ride last month to the east and back on the GS ADV. Would say 90% of bikes seen in the midwest were cruisers or Gold Wings. The GS was a novelty everywhere I parked it.

I always like the rides along the Rock River and/or out by Galena. Be careful if you are going to ride on Rt. 20. The cops are all over the place for speeders.

Holy crap, you could have ridden with us! (If you had done that on Sunday)
After we left Galena we ran Blackjack Road. Very challenging for a newb like me.
