I have a 1986 K75C with 23K miles on it. Had a battery problem this Spring and as I had purchased the bike used I decided to replace the battery instead of trusting it too far... Battery replacement was straight forward but after starting the bike and taking it down the road for the first time this year I noticed the speedometer was not working... Thought maybe I had unplugged something so I took everything apart back down to the battery and all looked good to go... Speedometer still does not work, was wondering if anyone has run into this problem and if so might be able to tell me what I've done!!! (Hopefully, nothing too serious!!!). I looked through old posts to see if this has happened before but didn't see anything... Thanks for any info you might be able to provide...

Right near the battery is the 4 pin connector from the speedo sensor to the bike harness. You might have disturbed it (though definitely not accidentally unplugged it or anything). It's known for causing connection issues. Unplug it, put a little ATF-4 on the pins, then plug/unplug it a few times and see if that cures it!

The 4 pin connector is the fuel pump/gas-level connector. It is fairly easy to jar the connector loose, and cleaning it is a good thing to do. Note that there is a second connector in the same area - also 2 pins - that is the one for the rear-brake-switch.

John - what's the ATF-4 going?

Thanks very much for taking the time for your replies!! I really appreciate it, will see if I can find the offending connection and see if I can't coax it back to life! Will let you know.... Thanks again...
