Here's one I have not heard about anywhere....
Bike is an 04 Roadster bought new in May '05 w/22800mi...
Every once in a while...about 1 or 2 times on a longer ride, my shifter (gearchange lever) will flop around after making the 4th>5th change.
5th gear will engage, but the lever can be moved up /down like it hasn't, or as if I'm between gears or something. Much like it does after getting into 6th...which I've always assumed to be 'normal'.
This happens only after the 4th>5th change, and I can always get the lever to seat rock-solid by lowering the revs a bit. I shift between 4k~4.5k rpms exclusively.
I lubed the ball joints and tightened things down there best as I can...the lever seems to be adjusted fine.
Any thoughts...? Lazy foot? Bent forks?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.....
