I'm perplexed. I'm in the process of completing this project and cannot figure out how or what the rear hinge of the seat pivots on.
I have looked at the fiche and cannot find any part/s identified that integrate with the hinge that's attached to the rear of he seat.
I noticed there is a hole drilled on the side of the frame where a prong could be mounted horizontally (like the prongs that hold the side covers on)... but I'm just guessing.
Any decent images of what's going on back there would really be appreciated.

Remove the rear fender bracket that is inline with the lock (two nuts under seat right behind fuel injection computer box). Then disengage two nubs at front lower edge of rear fender. Fender then can be pushed far enough away to allow removal of seat lock (after removing the two bolts that hold it).
If you have three more questions can I get a six pack?

Thx! In 1958 the artist Duane Bryers created Hilda the tuetonic amazon of enchanting pulchritude. She warms the cockles of my heart. I named my bike after her. Almost got this dang seat on her!

I was going to convert my 92 K75 from low seat to standard seat with the standard side panels. Mine has the low seat and rubber kneepad/side panel one piece thingy. I hate the look and the seat. I borrowed a standard seat and stuck it in position. When it was lined up at the rear, there was a lot of space up front. Pictures on request. The standard K75 side panels also seemed too short. I have not measured a standard tank, but I suspect my low-seat tank is shorter than a standard seat tank. Perhaps BMW thought short-legged people also had short arms and short torsos, and fitted shorter tanks with the low seat. That would also explain the wheelbarrow handlebars they put on the bike.
Has anyone ever measured tank lengths?

I've gone in both directions. When I acquired my K75S it had a stock high seat -- too high for me (or so I thought). So -- I found a low seat, tank pad and associated hardware and installed it. It fit just fine, but I -- like you -- found the look not pleasing. So, I sold the low seat kit and had the original stock seat, which needed recovering anyway, "sculpted" a bit by a local auto upholstery artist and reinstalled it with the original hardware.
At any rate, unless BMW had a special run of specialty machines I don't know about (which is possible, of course), the same tank was used used for both seats. The low seat installation eliminates the side panels in favor of the black tank surround. The mountings for the two seats are entirely different. The low seat slides in with a latch mechanism up front (as you know) whereas the high seat is hinged and restores the tool tray.

Thx again to everyone who helped with the process. The hardest part was tracking down all the hardware bits and being lucky enough to find a couple of nice color-matched side panels on ebay. For anyone who's interested I posted a picture of the finished project in the sticky K-bike photo thread.

It turns out the side panels I used for that check were from a K75 RT. Unknown to me, they are shorter than the other K75 panels. So my tank appears to be the same length as other K75 models except the RT. The standard seat is an inch too short at the top in front, but is OK at the bottom front, and can be flexed to fit at the top. It is possible that the standard seat I used for checking had its nose pulled back due to the vinyl upholstery shrinking from its obvious sun exposure.

Can someone please post a picture of the front hinge piece? I found one but it is too small to see what the pieces go.
Thanks.

Wonder if you ever got this sorted, Todd?
Just got my standard Corbin seat in the mail today and am not 100% sure if I have all the necessary hardware bits. (Probably most if not all but want to know for sure).
Could someone post a good clear picture of the front half of underside the standard seat, please? I already know how the rear half fits on the hinge bracket.
I can find all sorts of low-seat diagrams and photos but finding the same for the standard seat is another story.
Thanks!

Thanks, Lee, for the fast response. I'm probably good to go except for mounting the lock/helmet latch (might need to get a couple of nuts and bolts for it).
Assuming the lock mounts in the same place underneath the frame? I already removed the low-seat lock and latch system.

We need a clearing house for those with high seats and those with low seats to be able to exchange parts and hardware as needed. :doh :laugh

Good idea, but we do already have a great Flea Market here.
( I'll be putting my low seat & hardware in there once I'm happy with the high seat installed...)

Hi,
I have changed a couple of bikes from normal to low seat and vice-versa. If anyone needs low seat parts, I have a complete low seat kit as well as a second set of the mounting parts (not the seat nor the stick-on tabs for the tank). Should anyone need advice or individual parts, contact me.
