greetings fellow k-bikers,

does anyone know the name and/or part number of the plastic rectangular cover/shroud that bolts onto the engine block and covers the fuel injection system?

I poked around on RealOEM.com and did not see it depicted anywhere in the engine diagrams.

I noticed that some bikes have it and some don't. I was not sure if that is because it was removed or not supplied in certain years.

Confused.... http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/images/smilies/dunno.gif

$0.02 ==> My K75S never had the cover.

The cover was an aftermarket item.

They are made by CC Products (a subsidiary of San Jose BMW). $29.95

http://www.sjbmw.com/parts.asp Search "injector cover". It will show the one for the K100 2V.

They do not list the K75 one on their website, but they do have them. I think it is Part No. 75 (go figure).

A very nice piece. It really finishes off the look of the bike. I bought my third one from them last month.

Hey Lee,

Are those red bricks yours?

It seems they like to run in pairs. Here's two of my three:

IMHO the bike already has enough little chunks of black plasticky parts on it and doesn't need any more, especially in such a noticeable area. Now if you were to make up something in a nice stainless or aluminum, with some louvers or slots to make it more interesting I could see it.

At one time my thought was that it would restrict airflow between the tank and engine, which would be bad, but really it probably doesn't that much, if at all. Someone who is "pro injector cover" might argue for weather protection, and I doubt in a heavy rain it protects all that much.

So boils down to if you want to see your throttle bodies and injectors or not. I'd rather keep an eye on them, I like the looks of the engine.

They used to be. We had them from 1991 to 2003. The picture was taken in April of 2001. The red K75S was one of the best looking BMWs made.

Thx Lee. Ordered one from CC. You are correct - they only They show the Injector Cover K100 2-Valve Part #100 on their site. I sent them email to let them know I need the K75 version. Travel Well.
