Slow start question

My R-1150RT likes to crank and crank then spin up off of the starter. The R-1100 starts completely different, spin the starter and away the engine purrs.

New plugs, TB sync ok, different grades / brands of fuel, air filter ok, all the usual ok. Starter cranks at the normal (sounding) RPM. This bke has always been this way since I bought it used.

Any ideas?

I have the same bike. I bought it used last fall with 22K miles and have always thought it acted a bit "cold" on initial start-up. It touches right off when warm. I figure it's just the nature of the beast.

i used to have a problem with my GS.. slow cranking and having to reset the ABS due to low startup voltage. I chnaged to an Odessey battery and it cranks much faster. If I don't start it for 2 weeks, I also plug it in too. You might also cleanyo ground connections.
