I think that the clutch on my 87 K75 doesn't release as well as it should. About half the time when I downshift, I have to rev the engine to break the clutch free so that the shift lever will move. Once the shift mechanism is moving the everything works well. This problem only happens on the downshift.
I am assuming that this shifting problem is due to the clutch. Could it be the shifter mechanism? Do I have oil or some other contaminent on the clutch making it sticky? There is no clutch slippage when it is engaged.

Sticky downshifts are a symptom of dry clutch splines. When was the last time you had yours done?
