2000 R1100RT-P that I'm trying to revive. Purchased it at a surplus auction.
1. Does turn over but won't start
2. Fuel pump won't run as normally connected
3. Fuel pump does run wired direct to battery but bike still doesn't start
4. New fuel pump relay installed with same results
5. Fuses all check good on DMM
6. Side stand switch condition unknown but if I disconnect and jump the pins the bike/fuel pump still won't start
7. I do have spark at the cylinders
Anyone have suggestions on what to check next?
Injectors? Motronic? Something else?

Do you have gas to the pistons and compression?

Not sure about fuel getting in and I don't (at this time) have a compression gage.
I think my first concern should be why is the fuel pump not running then proceed from there.

Yes I do.

I'd check all things out in the beginning, since you have no history of why it doesn't run. The problem may be a non simple one.
How many miles does the bike have on it? I'd suggest pulling the tank, probably needs a new fuel filter, and you could check out the pump and gauge at the same time. Pull a plug and see if it is getting wet. Spray some gas in the cylinder and see if you can get the piston to fire. Roll the engine over with the plugs out. Check to see if the belt is in good shape.
Compression gauge, you can borrow one from some auto parts stores.

When I bought the bike there was a paper taped to the windshield. It said the bike needed a new fuel pump and that the tranny is bad. I haven't looked at the tranny yet. That will be done after I get the motor to run.
Because the paper said the fuel pump was bad I pulled the tank. I removed the pump and test ran it by jumping direct to a battery. It runs fine. I took the opportunity to replaced the fuel filter since I already had it out of the tank.
Everything is back together a new fuel pump relay has been installed but the fuel pump still does not run on the bike.
I have gone to the power connection on the tank and the next one in line before that and jumpered them, one at a time, to a battery and the pump runs.
I've gone to the fuses and they all are good as tested on a volt meter. I've tested power to the fuses with a volt meter. Power is going to the fuses.
Why won't the fuel pump work?
And to answer DarkCloud, the bike has 47886 miles.

Just finished pulling the relays and testing them. Applying 12V to the correct pins and they do work.
Looks like I get to pull the Motronic out and try to get it checked.

If the FP and FP relay are working fine, but don't come on when they should, it's very likely a toasted Motronic or a wiring harness issue. Try to energize the FP relay through the Motronic connector. If that works, but the Motronic isn't doing it, then it pretty much focuses the problem on the Motronic.

Talking to the local service dept and they tell that there is no way to test the motronic off the bike. (Does that mean there is a way when it is on the bike even if it doesn't run? Forgot to ask that one.)
The only way would be to replace it with a known good working unit. (does that mean you can't test it with it on the bike? Confusing me here.)
Of course the off the shelf price is a touch over $1K.:deal I did find a seller on eBay that has two. One of them is now on it's way to me.
The next step would be to unwrap the wiring harness to be able to strace the wires and find out exactly where they go. Not enjoying even thinking about that one.
The 'adventure' continues. :dunno

Out of curiosity, what does one pay at auction for a '00 RT-P with a bad fuel delivery system and tranny?

Bought it for $2955.00
I didn't think I would get it running this season. I went in thinking of it as a 'project'.

At that price, you should have bought two - one to fix and one to cannibalize for parts! You could spend a third of the purchase price just to get a new fuel injection control unit!
But $3K for a RT-P with (relatively) low miles is a steal regardless of the condition.

I am a little proud of myself getting it for that price. They did have two others up for auction at the same time but they were going for a lot more than I wanted to spend.
I am going to leave the bike configuration just like it is with only a few subtle changes. Where the flashing lights were in the back I will put reflectors. It has a black 'biscuit' type radio antenna on the trunk lid. I happen to be a ham radio operator so I will be replacing it with an antenna for ham radio.
Yaesu just came out with a new unit that has VHF/UHF bands and AM/FM radio built in. It is also Bluetooth capable and water resistant. Bult for ATV/offroad use. Just what I need.
The Nolan N-102 helmet was built with Bluetooth capability as an add-on feature. Already bought the helmet and the add-on will come later.
I can see it now......................
All these young kids with the crouch rockets and the lowered cars (with the muffler that looks like an opened coffee can) come screaming up the road. They then look over in the other lane and see me. They instantly think COP!!!! and jump all over the brakes.:nono

I'll have to take some photos of the front of my RT-P. I put some big black PIAA 910s where the front strobes are supposed to go, and they look just like emergency lights. I also have a headlight modulator, and it's embarrassing how many people move right to let me pass when I've got that running.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that our Washington State Patrol rides exactly the same bike.
You know your bike looks like a cop bike when cops in cages roll down their windows to wave at you as you pass.
You'll have a really nice - and very unique - bike when you get it all sorted out. Good luck to you in that regard!

Well, I think I have found why the *(*&$%#&#$) thing won't start.
After poking around with this part and that part, I finally got the 'brilliant' idea of 'do you have continuity from the fuse box to the pump?'
I tested from the first plug from the tank towards the box. (The wiring harness plug.) I tested from the pin that is supposed to provide power back to the fuse box fuel pump relay plug. I got continuity. OH BOY did I get continuity!! I got it on every pin in the relay plug.
(Now don't ask me why I did this but ...............):dunno
Wild hair time, I pulled the relay next door to the fuel pump relay and got continuity to every pin in that socket also!!!!:eek
I think I have a MAJOR wiring problem. :banghead

Some new wires might just be a very cheap fix......take your time and do it right....you will be riding in the rain....won't you?
some of these bikes have a history of the zip ties being too tight....right from the factory......usually right at the front as the harness splits for the ignition switch and there is lots of movement from the steering action.....I would check there no matter what.....hope you find it easy....

Beemer boneyard has a wiring harness w/fusebox that I'm buying. This way I have a complete wiring harness w/o all the police wire additions.
