Hi all,
Am contemplating replacing failed pump with Napa part 2P74095. Has anyone experience with this pump? The screen is different, any problems? And how about the P74095 (notice the 2 is dropped), it is a little more expensive but comes with some of the needed hardware and again the screen i even "more" different than the 2P74095.
Thanks,
dan

I replaced my fuel pump with one for ford mustang that I got from a parts house where my son worked.Had to change the connections on the leads to fit the pump and shim it to fit the well the pump goes in,the ford pump was smaller. It has worked very well. There is some how-to info over on the IBMWR site.

Looks like the actual pump units are indentical.. so if you can mount either of them - the ratings (pressure/GPH) appear to be suitable for K bike use. The people who have used this sort of pump in K bikes have done it by wrapping the pump in fuel-line (type that can be used IN gasoline) to shim it to the normal K bike pump holder. Since these look to be a bit shorter than the stock K bike pump, I doubt if there will be a problem with the strainer - but you may not get full capacity from the tank of fuel. You may want to mount it so the bottom (pickup) position is the same as the stock pump.. You'll also have to switch from ring connectors that the stock pump uses to spade-connectors.
Note that Beemerboneyard does sell a new K bike pump for a bit over $200 - so depending on how tight $$$ are..

for almost 10k now with no problem. I had my mech install it and after watching him I would suggest trying it yourself.
It seemed simple, using the shim recommended above. I didn't see him have to make any mods.

Thanks for all the replies!
Will make a decision between the stock and the Ford...about a hundred and thirty dollars diff after shims and tax.
