I just noted that the Lake Express list room for only 12 mototcycles, so I went to make reservations for the 12:30 departure on Sat of the Rally. Nope all full for motorcycles . So had to take the 6am departure! Need to be there by 5:15am and need about an hour to get there 4:15am! Looks like I'll be sleeping aboard the Lake Express Sat morning since I'll be up all night Friday.
If you are taking the Lake Express, best make your reservations cause there's not much room for bikes.

I'd think you'd be better off sleeping in and riding the 3 hours around Chicago Saturday afternoon.

Plenty of people take off Saturday morning so they can be at work Monday.
This year I will be one of them. :bolt
This is why for MOA provided prizes you do not have to be present to win.

Best,
Yup, that's why I need to head out on Sat. Of course, I'm heading over on Sat July 7, plan on being in Wis on Monday morning via the Badger. So I'll have plenty of time for exploring and two full days of the rally.

Sounds like a great plan.
I am taking the "long way" and plan on arriving either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning as this year I am taking a break from volunteering. I'll hang out until Saturday morning then take the fast way home.
I am really looking forward to a nice time in West Bend.

Hey now,
Great to hear from you!
Well the Sheepshager is going in for a new hip. He has requested that the doc save the top of the femur so we can incorporate into the Wacky Hat trophy. It will look good with the gold capped tooth.
With him out of the game it looks like it will be Chace and I heading west. Thanks for keeping the light on for us.

Just as a data point I just made reservations for two bikes on line for the 12:30 boat out of Milwaukee on Saturday the 14th.
Which upon further review I am going to cancel and switch for reservations earlier in the week going west.
Waiting until 16:00 to only be on the east side of the lake makes it tough for us to go from the rally to RI in two days.

Open slots, that is strange. I phoned in and was told the 12:30 was full for MC. I know what you're facing, I'm trying to get to Vermont in 2 easy days. The 12:30 is late, but allows an easy morning in Wisconsin before departure. The 6am is damn early, since I'm 50 minutes away and need to get to the terrminal early for checkin. Wish it departed around 9am, but oh well. Got my 6am reservations and just looking forward to the rally. I don't really what to think about coming home, would much prefer to keep riding for another week, month, year!

If you call and tell them you are part of the rally you get a nice discount.
I paid $75 for bike and rider.

Yup, $75 with the discount for the Lake Express. I'm paying $72 for the trip to Wisconsin on the Badger. A great way to kick back, relax, and see the lake.
Thanx's MOA for getting us the discounts!

For all considering the ferry. I have been on this before and just make sure you don't suffer from sea sickness. My wife, child and I went on it last year and the two of them were sick the minute it hit open water. (they have special rooms for those throwing up and need to lay down). It is a big ship, used to carry rail cars. But the lake is big and if its windy you will rock and roll. I made it across without feeling bad until the west shore was insight. Took us all a while to recover. It's fun though and we will always have memories of this adventure.

I am willing to wager you are talking about the Badger, nor the Lake Express.
High Speed Cat's have a pretty nice ride.

About 4 years ago, I took the overnight ferry between Portland, Maine and Yardmouth, NS (pre-cat service). Man, trying to sleep as the ship pitched and rolled all night, with the drone & shaking of the engines was no thrill (or perhaps it was). In any case, I've got 4 Tie-down straps, for the bike, not me. Looking forward to the adventure
