somewhere on this forum someone said ''S" bars would fit inside the RS fairing. I had 'em on my old airh' w a pichler and found them very comfortable. They're higher and flatter than the rS bars. maybe w the barbacks it'd help. The drawback might be that brake, throttle, clutch cables might have to be chg'd.

I installed bars from a K75s on mine and they brought the bars up 1 1/2" over stock. I didn't have to replace any cables but it is tight. With the barbacks as well, I think you would have to replace with longer cables. I had to eliminate the dash pad but it doesn't look that bad.
One down side that I noticed is the with the higher bars, it puts my face right up into the air stream coming over the windshield. I put on a laminar lip and that helped raise up the air stream.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Mike
S bars from a similar year R bike will not fit inside the RS fairing. The bar ends will contact the inside of the fairing before reaching full lock. Back in the day I bought an RS from a goofball doctor who had done this. I quickly converted it back to stock. I don't recall if he had the cables changed, but I reinstalled the dash pad and don't recall having a lot of extra cable to work around. Don't know about S bars from a K bike. Never tried that.

Joe, I suggest you ride the bike 1000 miles or more. What seems a bit to low and forward now should become comfortable. If not, trade or convert to an RT.

...if you haven't already thought of it. riding with a tankbag, particularly a big ol' tall full one gives you something to lean against, lay on, rest one arm and a chin on.
maybe a little basic, but just wanted to offer another thought.

when I had my RS, I put up with it, but got to be too much with short arms doing long rides, my hands would go to sleep... had to sell it...

thanks for those of you that responded to my short arm problem. i did find out it dosn't have the stock bars on it they come up about an inch or so and pull back about 2 in. 24in. wide. i did order bar backs looks like cables and things are long enough, mabe they were changed already. i'll give them a try and let you know if it works. in the meen time i'm hanging from the shower rod an hour a day to make my arms longer.(don't try this with any other body parts)
i have one more ? for today. wher can i find pics of 84 rs final edition mines has been painted pearl white with silver stripes, the lower is dark blue as is the section around the headlight not stock i'm sure. the side cover says final edition in orange lettering i think that part is correct. i would like to put the stock paint back on it this winter. thanks for your help
