I started a new thread for the Cuban Food night.

The easiest (not shortest!) way to get from the Rally site to Cubanitas (728 N. Milwaukee Street, 414-225-1760) is as follows. This route will keep you out of the construction on the Downtown (Marquette) Interchange and on parts of Water Street. This route will also keep you out of congested city streets that are further south with lots of stoplights and pot holes. Estimated ride time from the Rally site to Cubanitas is about 40 minutes.

From the Rally site, get on Hy 41 SOUTH headed to Milwaukee.

Ride Hy 41 SOUTH to GOOD HOPE ROAD. Get off at GOOD HOPE ROAD, stay to the left.

At GOOD HOPE ROAD turn LEFT (East) , and continue on GOOD HOPE ROAD until you reach I-43. Caution: After you cross HY 57 (Green Bay Ave.) watch your speed. HY 57 is about 1 mile West of I-43. When you start seeing I-43 signs, roll off some throttle.

At I-43, turn RIGHT (SOUTH), and proceed to McKINLEY STREET.

Get off at the McKINLEY STREET exit, stay to the LEFT.

At McKINLEY STREET, turn LEFT, and proceed EAST to WATER STREET (about one half mile). Get to the right, and enjoy some slow curves. Your landmark is the MSOE Kern Hall-one block east of Water Street. You are now 6 minutes away from Cubanitas.

At WATER STREET, turn RIGHT (SOUTH), and proceed to KILBOURN (about 3 blocks).

At KILBOURN, turn LEFT (EAST), and proceed to MILWAUKEE STREET (about 3 blocks)

At MILWAUKEE STREET, turn RIGHT (SOUTH), and proceed 3+ blocks.

When you see the Hotel Metro at Mason and Milwaukee start looking for parking.
If I get lucky, I will try to have some space in front of Cubanitas for bikes.

Go to the Cubanitas website and print off the map. Those of you with GPS's may continue to laugh.

On your way back to the Rally, return the same way you came.

By the way, McKinley west of Water Street is McKinley. The same street EAST of Water Street is Knapp Street (MSOE is at Water & Knapp. Remember, you want I-43 North to Green Bay on the return. Do NOT take 145 north Fond du Lac, as that is mostly city streets.

On the way back, from I-43 to HY 57 on Good Hope Road, watch your speed. River Hills PD sets multiple radar traps from the "I" to Green Bay Road.

So far we have about 12 people for dinner. There may be some ambassadors and others who will show up after the Ambassador's Dinner for a consult.

Or... since my wife is volunteering at the Rally (she's one of the licensed bartenders so be nice to her and you may be rewarded) you can follow me when I head to Cubanitas for dinner. Where shall we meet to ride into town?

On Wednesday, 7/11, the "big" Cuban night, prospective Cubanitas attendees-already at the rally site- will have an option of meeting John Cabranes at the flagpoles in front of the main pavilion for a scenic ride down picturesque Hy 32 (along the lake) to downtown Milwaukee.
You need to be at the flagpoles at 6:15PM CST.

If you cannot make that ride, then come on your own from the rally site using the directions in the beginning of this thread.

We now have people arriving from the rally site, from downtown hotels, the car ferry, and the airport.

I live 15 minutes away from Cubanitas, and I will be getting down there early trying to score a parking space or two. My non-riding spouse and son will be joining us.

Patcarol-
The more, the merrier!

Can you leave First Aid at 6:15pm and join up with JCabranes at the flagpoles as indicated earlier in this thread? Pat , please pm me with your cell phone number.

Cuban food is generally sweet. You will not be disappointed. It also has a lot of garlic, olive oil, and lime marinades.

Word to the wise: If you order a Mojito (should you choose to drink intoxicants), order it with Baccardi, as they use Baccardi Lemon'. The subtle fruity flavors of the Mojito help bring out the tropical influence of the food.

Jack-How many people do you have so far riding in with you for this gig? My count shows about 5 including yourself (?).
Please PM Patcarol and exchange cell phone numbers.

My plan is to leave the rally site immediately after the Accident Scene Management Class and go home. I will be leaving from home to join the group. Also, I am going to try to score some parking close by the restaurant. How many bikes can we get to a parking space?

I need to be at the place early because people are coming directly from the ferry, airport, and downtown hotels and I have a feeling that will get a few calls.

I have invited some people to join us. They are not members of the MOA, but I feel they would do well to join our unique organization.

One has a K75-Randy Maio who teaches upholstery repair at MATC. He also builds custom bike seats . He is married with two children.

The other wants to get back into motorcycles after a 10 year sabbatical raising a family. She works in a corporate environment, and is a single parent. She is looking at a 1999 R1100R Anniversary Edition with every conceivable farkle on it with only 16k miles on the clock!

Please make them feel welcome.

My Cuban wife may not be able to attend. One of our cats will barely be 36 hours post-op from having the left hind leg amputated due to bone cancer. We learned of our cat's condition a few days ago.

Does anyone in the group have an urban planning or real estate development background?
