I want to raise the foot lever slightly but don't know how. Is there an adjustment screw behind the rubber boot? Or is the position adjusted by some other means? What tools are required?

Thanks,

Paul

I'm not 100% certain, but I didn't think the stock shifter linkage was adjustable on the /7. I looked at mine but can't see much as it still has the rubber boot on it. Is this mechanism now NLA?? I believe they came out with a heim joint which has a threaded rod between two ball/cap joints which should have some adjustability. From the fiche, it looks like this is called a selector rod and was introduced in 9/80. I think some prefer this setup because it provides a more positive shift.

My '78 R100/7 had a non-adjustable linkage rod with 90 degree bends on the ends. I simply made up a new rod to bring the shift pedal up to give a little more room between the pedal and the '70s aftermarket footboards which I had fitted to give an alternative leg bend position on long runs.

The shift lever was also a little sloppy on the remote shaft and so I shimmed the washer on the shaft to eliminate pedal wobble. As I recall, I made the shim from the wall of a pop can.

Hi,
My '81 R100RT came from the factory with a solid rod with 2 90 degree bends and was covered by a rubber boot. Both my '84 R100RS's came with the heim joint. The solid rod and boot are, I believe, NLA, but I think the heim joint rod is still available. Cheap, it isn't, but available, I think it is!
