Yes, they will have an Electronic charging station inside one of the buildings. I think the way it works is you drop off your device and AC charger and they plug it into power strips so you stay all charged up..

Uhm, Terry? Hodag is running the charging station, hence the analogy to the "page to the white courtesy phone." He has all the details. There aren't actually courtesy phones at the rally grounds.

I am afraid you misunderstood what manicmechanic was trying to say.

HODAG, another forum user, is the committee chairman of our electronics charging station. This station will be located off the main KIOSK, near communications and in the same room as the Cyber Cafe. You can bring your electronics
and assorted chargers into that area.

Hey Jack,

If your life depends on a fully charged cell phone then accept some responsibility for keeping it charged. This is much better than taking a dump on someone who has volunteered to spend the rally inside keeping an eye on your precious electronic gizmos while you do something much more important.

Or you can simply get a pair of SAE connectors and a female lighter socket from Radio Shack. Install one SAE connector directly to the battery and wire the other to the lighter socket. This way you can plug in your phone that you entrust with your life on your own bike while you sleep. As an aside if you work in a field where you must be on call 24/7 and a working cell phone is a requirement of the job you will also hear it ring from your tent. Unfortunately so can your neighbors but what the hay, it is work which for some really can be the difference between life or death. I find it somewhat incredulous that someone would go motorcycle camping without a plan for charging their phone on their own, especially if it is a life or death device.


The other solution is to go to the rally site on Sunday and volunteer for something. Before you volunteer make sure you find the one outdoor electrical jack and put your tent up so it is in your vestibule. Make sure you bring plenty of caution tape so you can claim your spot, after all who cares about the folks that need c-pap machines or perhaps the other gazillion riders who also need to charge phones, pda, ipods and all the other electronic junk we have become addicted to.

I am one of the volunteers for the charging station. I am sorry that I don't have full details for you on how it will be run. I will see what I can find out.

I see from your post count that you are new to the forum. Welcome.

Every job or group I have ever been in, from kindergarten to now have had their own slang. For the new person it can be confusing. Calling (insert name here) to the white courtesy phone is forum slang for that person has the answer and they should respond with the information. It was not a direct answer to your question.

I will see what information I am able to come up with. I need to check in with Hodag the chair for that committee anyway.

I time travelled all last weekend and then was in chicago this week peddling my wares.

yep just drop off your phone, ipod, laptop, etc...with charger and pick it up all charged

I can't do nothing bout your space bar though....
