If you could have any modern bike from say 1999 to the present, what would you choose and why?:german :usa

No thanks. I've owned every bike that I ever wanted to own. Including
a '78 Mark I Lemans Guzzi, a '82 Suz. 1000 Katana, a '93 R100 GS/PD,
& numerous others. As far as anything newer than a '99, no way. I'm
happy with dinosaur bikes. :dunno
A RED F800S.
That would really make me sMile.

I would like to take parts/designs of many bikes....If I had a wish anyway...
BMW R1200 GS. End of story for me until they make the elusive R1500 Super GS in the year 2020.
It will include a flux capacitor.:heart

All the bikes I'd want are too old...(Like a 40's Indian Chief or a 70's Water Buffalo) so I cant share on here.:bolt

I'd like to have a KZ1000P to ride again. Heavy but smooth, easy to ride and comfortable. I put a bunch of miles on 4 of them.
That's not to say I don't like my RT, I do, but the KZ and I had some "interesting" times.

An F800GS Adventure in it's third year of production. Surely it will have all the bugs worked out by then. :stick:dunno

If it has to be '99 and later, I'd say a '99 thru the end of the 1150's RT, but w the heated Corbin seat I had on my '98, and NPR buh-lasting! on the radio. (Just to make the cagers think twice) For my money, that was the best. Great handling, power, brakes, terrific on the slab or the twistys, and far and away the prettiest bike they've made since the end of the airhead RS. :bikes

GS, Wing, GT, RT
GS - can do it all (is that a dirty word or just a dirt road?)
Wing - just point it to the other coast and go (I like the airbag too)
GT - oh what fun it is to drag a peg on the Blue Ridge Parkway (sung to the tune of Jingle Bells) and I didn't have to haul it all the way there
RT - Great compromise between the Wing and GT and I love that detachable luggage (also my current ride, so it had to be here)
You did say any bike.

That would have to be the current GS Adventure with all the Touratech goodies. More importantly I would also want a few good buddies with fat wallets and oodles of time to go and ride in Africa, India, China and New Zealand with me.
I actually have a shot at making this dream come true......
Thanks for letting me day-dream.
PS: Note to all. Do not go to a BMW ride event and drive your dream bike. You will be sorry.....
Own a brand new Xchallenge

R12GS: Because it will go anywhere.
R12RT: Because it will get you there in style and comfort.
K12GT: Because it will get you there fast.
R12CLC: Because its got class.
You did say '99 and later. That's a good thing, because the one I would keep would be my '98, R12C. And I think I may have it the way I want it.

One bike wow, that's is tough. I already own three of my dream bikes, R75, R1150GS. 99 Honda VFR800i. What I would like as a dream bike built since '99 is a MV Brutale. I'd never ride the thing, I would put it in my living room. Sell the HDTV.:coffee

If someone were to say to me, Dan, pick any bike you want and I will deliver it to your house free of charge, then....let me see. I guess a Ducati 1098s. If this same person would also pay the insurance premium... :thumb

Since I'm vertically challenged and like BMWs, I would like to have a CLC with an RT engine.

If I had to make a snap decision, it would be the 1200GS Adventure, farkled out. If I got to test a couple choices first, I would take a hard look at an LT, R12RT ang a K1200GT. And just to try it out, a Road King.

Latest and greatest RT-P - ideally not a used cop bike but a brand new RT-P w/o any service duty.
Light, fast and conspicuous! Heavy-duty alternator, battery, etc.
The sea of cages will part before my steed!

The newly updated K1200GT in silver.
I'd love to get a new gen Triumph Tiger (white, please!) with bags as my solo only #2. What an amazing powerband! Torquemaster!
Why didn't I get one (thanks to ATL Triumph/Ducati for the test ride)?
Pillion too small for SWMBO. And my '07 R12RT is waaay more comfy 2-up.
Yes, we all need two or more bikes. A tasty Duc ST3-S would be nice but ONLY with a Speigler handlebar set up and dropping the pegs about 1/2". A 'Strada S would do the trick, too. :thumb

Having any bike is not a real issue, it only takes money. My dream revolves around having the time and freedom to ride the bike. So bottom line, I'll take the bikes I have (all airheads), give me time to ride them.

It will be built by BMW. It will be modular, can be easily converted to do duty as a tourer, sports or adventure bike. It will have an in your face, no excuses 1400cc in line V4 with variable valve timing. 160hp, 160 mph, stump pulling torque and free revving - 5000 rpm at 100mph, 10,000 rpm redline. It will be fairly short, fairly low, minimal body work, conservative styling.
Telescopic forks, single sided articulated shaft drive swing arm, adjustable travel and damping both ends. Weight about 400lbs.

Kenny Dreer is now working with a large local Harley dealer. He is advising them on the construction of a sport tourer using a bumped up V-Rod motor (1420 cc or some such) That sounds like a lot of fun, but it is a little early to put it on a wish list. In the meanwhile the 2004 K12GT has been giving me the come hither look
