The way one gets two pictures or more up is by using having the pictures live on a different server, instead of attaching them. So to insert more pictures use the<img src="http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/classic_images/editor/insertimage.gif" > icon at the top of the reply box. This then will prompt you for where the image lives. Make sense?

I'm posting this hoping that I will get to see some other halloween costume posts.

I'm the black widow, my roommate, Michelle, is the cat. (I have been working on teaching her to ride my R100S) -She's a natural, but doesn't have money for a bike yet. The guys are a couple of my dirt bike riding buddies.

So let's see some more costume mugs, please.

Actually not all that impressive, if you can picture me trying to kick start a 2 stroke that's much too large for me, it's more...well....comical.
Once I get going I'm OK though. Unfortunately, I don't have a dirt bike right now, I always have to ride my friends bikes at this point and time. They have Honda's, 2 strokes, I wanna say 250, but I don't know that much more about them except that I would rather roll start them down a nice hill, than try to kick start, with the "short girl jump up and over" method.

I have lot's of room for improvement in the dirt bike arena, so whenever I have the opportunity to go, I do, but it's not as often as I would like. :violin

My sister the firefighter is a dirt bike rider. She started trying to ride her SO's KTM 250 2-stroke. Before she killed herself (she's a beginner) I steered her toward a Honda CRF230 4-stroke. She can *ride* that thang!

I long ago stopped trying to ride my son's motocross bikes, 2-stroke or 4. It's that thing called living that I like. ;)

I like your sister already. She would fit right in with my family.

I agree the living thing is kinda nice. I know you know that part of properly living is in testing the perimeters of this thing called life. I do think that a 4-stroke would be helpful if I hope to stay within the perimeters. When I can purchase one of my very own, that's the direction I will head in, but at this point I have to take what I can get. :)

You clearly have already tested the perimeters and know where they are, so you don't need to inspect them regularly, in this particular area of two wheeled adventure.

There's a pull out on the way up, where you can sit on this big rock under a huge tree and look south to see the city.

One of my most favorite places.

She's 12 and loves to ride, she watched the young-un, and this was her "pay". She wanted to take a ride to test her new jacket, so we put on about 30 miles in 40 degree weather.. her face was red when we got back, and she said it hurt when she smiled, she must of been in alot of pain!

It is just a JC Witney aftermarket special that I picked up from ebay. When I bought the K many years ago it had a large Pichler fairing on it, which I removed and sold thru BMW ON Flea Market.

Pete, that's awesome. I've only had my K75 for less than a year and have considered adding on the smaller of the Parabellum windshields, but the thought of adding a windsheild/fairing that looks like that one is pretty inspirational.

Was the installation difficult?

Not at all...I am from the "round headlight club" *lol* so I bought an aftermarket 7'' headlight and mounting brackets. Made some minor extensions of the brackets to clear the stearing head and bolted the fairing directly to the headlight mounts using brackets that came with the fairing. Good luck and send photos of the finished project!

Hey, thanks Pete for the details! And the inspiration. I've now got my eyes open for a fairing solution (in addition to all the other thing$ I want to do for the bike, too!)

Taken in between Lake Placid and Keene, NY in the Adirondacks (2004). 112 miles in 6 hours. Then I ran a marathon.

If anyone is interested, Ironman USA is the 23rd of July - the last day of the rally. I would HIGHLY recommend that motorcyclists avoid Lake Placid on that day - unless you really like to wait in traffic. Most of the main roads are closed because of the race but there is one-way traffic in a loop that goes from Wilmington to Jay to Keene and up to the ski jumps. The old military road will be open so you could bypass Placid.

This was a trip to Cali that was just compulsive. I had booked the trip a day
before flying out of JFK, two days before Christmas ... all so I could escape
NY cold, snow and motofrustration and enjoy tamales with friends and family on Christmas.
It turned out to be a mixed blessing. The coast was great, once again, but I
was not on the bike.

The good news though, was that I could see my old nemesis at LACMA:

A little has changed. My clothes. The exuberance of "No hands at 70!"
But really, I think it's still a fine way to view life. Never ending that is.

I actually had a lot of fun with this as I am learning about using the edit function on my computer to resize photos. the first two were old 35mm scanned. the last is digital that was originally 1.33KB in size. I obviously didn't make it small enough. Bear with me as I am an old dog learning new tricks! Ride Safe! :wave

A Yankee Beemer somewhere in Maryland, en route to the Antietam Battlefield

Antietam, to me, was like many battlefields where you could feel something had happened there but not sure what. From the observation tower looking over the fields and hills to the Burnside Bridge, Antietam was a somber place. That was a different kind of battle than now. Massing troops just to bottleneck on a bridge and charge up a hill towards the confederates. It's redundant to say confederate sharpshooters as southerners then and now tend to be the best shots. That's a long hill to think about charging up it under fire.

And all of the old homes around there where people lived at the time. Imagine a battlefield right on your doorstep. May it not happen here again.

Regards,

Randy Kasal

That is a beautiful bike! What does the designation "Mystic" signify? Was that a special BMW model or special to you?

Regards,

Randy Kasal

The_Veg
10-31-2007, 11:07 AM
The Mystic was a derivation of the R100R (which itself was a derivation of the R100GS), and was BMW's attempt at a 'factory custom.' The name is just what BMW chose, for reasons only BMW knows. The Mystic was basically an R100R with a different seat, instrument panel, rear fender, side panels, sidestand, headlamp-mount, and colour-scheme. Mechanically it was the same as the R, with the final-version of the 1000cc airhead engine equipped with an oil-cooler and 32mm carbs. Five-speed gearbox and paralever, plus a K75 fork up fornt complete the package. The R and Mystic were, in some opinions, the best airheads ever due to superiour suspension and brakes to what other incarnations had. I wouldn't call either one a good touring-bike due to low gearing and less than stellar MPG (which mostly seems to get blamed on the 32mm carbs), but they are great bikes for being a hooligan about town. The low final-drive-ratio and good torque-curve make them great for zipping out of stop-lights and other forms of recreation.

Most of the time I get some time around September to move my bike south for the winter.....not this year!

I shot this today Feb. 25 and it's been snowing all day, the roads should be clear by Wednesday and 40 degrees...perfect late winter riding weather.

No. No. No. The glasses were OK. It was the shoes he didn't like. That and the "black

Well, my boots would have matched, but they were a bit dusty from scuffing through the Starbucks parking lot.

Here's a shot of me that my husband took last week. I'm a Photoshop instructor and thought I'd have a little fun with it :)

There you have it. Had it been riding to say the Bovine, you'd have been good to go
