How many $$ to ride 100K?

If you assume 45 mpg and $3/gal. gas, the fuel bill alone is well in excess of $6000. Ten sets of tires, more or less, at maybe $250 a set mounted. Another $2500. Now, when you add food and lodging...

More than I can afford on one of my many hobbies.

In addition, I don't have the time to average about 273 miles per day, every day, for a year. Too many other things to do.

At 3.50 per gallon at 45mpg is $7775 approximatey 2220gals +/- a couple gallons.
Metz Tourance tires run about $on ave. 300 a set non mounted that is a min of 3000$ for tires... oil changes if done by one self is Aprox $25 for oil per change and 20 for filter or so... at every 6K that is 17 changes at $700-800. plus other oils and misc. stuff add in another 500$... Then figure on one major break down that is about 1200-1500$ bugeted repairs. Then if you ride.. 500 miles a day 7days aweek it is 200 days so figure on 9-10 months min to do the ride for rest and down time... at 20$ per day food... 250days of food is approx $5000 on food not now counting the camping/ hotel stays at least 2 days per week if you can do most of your riding out and back to home to sleep at 50-70$ per stay on average... that about 40-50 hotel stays...is min of $2000 for hotels.... camping is a lot cheaper you acn average about 15$ a night

so you at at right now for a rough estimate on the lower end of things..

around $ 15,000.00 min. to do a 100K ride without lodging cost...

Figure to make things easier and enjoy the 100K and all the places you go to... an additional $5000.00... for a cool $20K...



I priced it a two summers ago to do it ... then last summer the gas went through the roof... so did not happen out of my price range... and i was going at 50mpg for the gas.....
