when its up for sale :mad

I spent all day today fixing my truck just so I can sell it. I knew the front brakes were iffy, so no suprise there, except I had hoped to not have to replace the rotors too. No such luck, they were un-machinable. So I got that done, drove the truck out of the garage and parked it out front of the house. when I come back to the garage, I spy a puddle of antifreeze on the floor. :banghead So, I end up spending all afternoon replacing the intake manifold gaskets. Of course I had to drill out two broken bolts to complete the afternoons festivities :bluduh .

Now I know this might seem like just bad luck, but I swear my vehicles know I'm trying to sell them and purposely breakdown so I have to sink more money into them just to make them saleable. :doh The last car I sold chose to fry the airbag module and the three year old battery died and had to be replaced. Car before that chucked a fan belt and toasted the engine.

I hate selling cars, no wonder I drive them for so long. Its not because I don't want to trade up, it just that I'm afraid of what they'll do when I try. :uhoh

Tell me about it. I did a 6K service, chain and sprockets, all new fluids, brake pads, etc. on my Triumph Sprint ST in order to sell it. It's been at the dealer for 3 weeks since with a, so far, impossible to find electrical short in the fuel injection that causes the bike to simply quit running. This after 32,000 completely trouble free miles.:banghead

Yes that certainly might be a big factor in this. They probably get so attached to me, they feel betrayed when I put the for sale sign in the window :nono Perhaps the antifreeze leak was just my poor old trucks tears. :cry

:laugh I do the same. Until I can't afford to keep them running anymore. They all were mostly able to drive to the junkyard. I sold my Mercury Capri before it blew up completely. That car..... *shudder*

Dave:

Why did you put the Triumph up for sale? I just demo'd a new Sprint ST, and it's one of the most impressive bikes I have ever been on. Like it better than my RS, I'm sad to say.

Sorry for the hijack, Ed, I O U 1 beer. ;)

Too many bikes, too little space, too little time. Triumph Sprint is one of the best bikes out there IMO. A SPORT tourer, as opposed to a BMW sport TOURER.

Dave:

After much thought, I've decided to stay with the RS because:

bit better weather protection
no heat issues (although this is fixable on the Sprint, I understand)
driveshaft
luggage is probably better

But the ST was a lot smoother, nicer sound, feels lighter, and very precise feeling front end.

But I took the oiler out for a good ride yesterday, and all's well again.
