Jeremy called me a few days ago. Nothing special, he just had some free time and gave me a shout. I asked him if he would get to go to Florida and be with his family for the Memorial Day weekend. He said no, they were scheduled to be patroling off the southeast coast for a week or so. He may get a four day weekend in June and will go see Amber and the boys. Jeremy just turned 25 last week.

I don't think I drew a sober breath between 18 and 25.
I drank, rode my motorcycle, drank, did a lot of racing, drank, had zero responsibilities, and drank. My life was ONE BIG PARTY.

Jeremy was in the first wave to go into Afghanistan, he was 19. He has served two tours in the Middle East and is getting ready for a third. He celebrated his 21st birthday of the coast of Samolia. He has come under fire in Iraq. He goes for months at a time without seeing his wife, children, or any family. He is giving the best years of his life to us and his country. Man, talk about putting things in perspective.

May God bless and watch over each and every person who is serving our country. May God comfort the families of those who have served and given the Ultimate Sacrifice for us and our country.

Funny the things we think about sometimes huh?

Same thoughts to all the current and past heroes, and to those we have lost.

My son recently left the Navy, he was in training at Great Lakes two weeks from graduation when 9/11 changed a lot of things. They cancelled visitors on base that weekend but we were able to go the next to see him and his classmates graduate, albeit under HEAVY security... He spent most of his tour on the USS Stennis in the Pacific, but could have been anywhere...

I have some lineman working with me that have come back a whole lot more grown-up at such an early age. Proud to have served, but very glad to be home, most lost friends. With this weekends Holiday, I hope everyone takes a moment to reflect on the meaning... to those who did not get the respect during Vietnam, to the current brave men & women who are doing their best. God Bless:usa

I am troubled sometimes beacuse I think the different factors in America forget the most fundemental issue here. EVERYONE owes a huge THANKYOU to these men and women REGARDLESS of your stance on the war! this is beyond politics and has to do with the love of country, and our responsibility to our soldiers!

No matter if you think we should be there or you think we never belonged, those brave YOUNG AMERICANS are fighting in our name, with our signature, and deserve our most profound help and respect!

Thank you Jeremy, and Navy Dad, please pass this on!

He sounds like a responsible young man, doing the right thing.

You should be proud.

Keep in mind the real reason for Memorial Day. It isn't just for partying or an extra day off. It's because of those we have lost in the line of duty and those who paid a price to safeguard our country.

May all of my fallen Brothers and Sisters, from all branches of the services, rest in peace assured they are not forgotten and are appreciated.
