Ok, it's too hot, far too early.

On Monday, I rode to work wearing my firstgear NON-vented pants with my Olympia AST jacket; liner in. I also had a "neck sock" on. I was not over dressed. Tuesday, I went to work with the firstgear pants and Olympia AST; switching to my armored/kevlar jeans and the Olympia with the vents open. Today, it's hit 91 degrees, and I wore my firstgear mesh pants, my Rev'it mesh jacket, and my mesh gloves; and was still kind of warm.

I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come; July would be mighty hot come rally time. I would MUCH rather be riding in 50 degree weather, over 90+. At least I'm heading way North AFTER the rally, where it SHOULD be much cooler. :) In the meantime, I'm watching the early June weather for Asheville - going to the RA rally!

Uhg, I left Cleveland this AM, nice and comfortable with the vents open in my roadcrafter. By the time I got to Bowling Green, I wasn't happy if I caught a light.

Might have to wait til after sundown tomorrow to head back to Cleveland.

with warm, cloudless days and very cool nights. No need for a/c the past week. It's strange to see the locals all bundled up in the evenings and I'm in shorts and a t-shirt!

I wish I could say I feel sorry for ya, Josh, but I don't. I took the liner out of my jacket about 2 weeks ago and had to put it back in today. Temps dropped down to freezing and will be there for the next few mornings. Today's high ended up being 6 degrees C. Heck, it even snowed for a bit but thankfully, it didn't stick around.

Please collect some of your excess heat and send it up here.

We got about four inches of heavy wet snow overnight. No broken tree limbs so far, but they were all leafed out and are hanging pretty low to the ground.

No riding today.

Silverton, Colorado got about a foot of snow in the last two days from this western storm that is heading your way. We got mostly rain in Durango but we did have about a half hour of heavy wet snow yesterday afternoon up at the house but no accumulation. It was 32 when I got up this morning at 7400'...

But, it will be warm and sunny here this weekend. How about where you are?

Ed's Calgary picture is the honest truth. It's a good May dump.

The sad thing is that Sunshine ski area closed on Monday. They would have got another 30 cm of fresh powder.

Well, the streets are melted clear and mostly dry which is good because I had to go get some parts for my truck. I think a pair of brake rotors might've be more than the 11 lb capacity for the topcase of the GS. But hey, they fit in it.

Some Canadians evidently ran into snow up on the border in New Brunswick last Friday on their way to the DownEast Rally. I haven't put my woolens away yet even though it is in the mid 80's here in Vermont today and tomorrow.

A lot of people seem to like moving South or Southwest when they retire. Since I don't like the heat, I may end up moving to Canada or something. Of course, by the time I hit retirement age, Canada may be a tropical zone. I can see it now; hotels and resorts all along the Hudson Bay and people out tanning. :p

We didn't see any of that up north here in Edmonton . :p :p

Red Deer (half way between Edmonton and Calgary) Schools had a snow day today. Go figure.

Sorry, Canada doesn't want you (or me) because we are too old to enter the work force and don't come from a third world country. They don't issue retiree visas anymore.:doh

You all could come here for a visit. Rode in to work this morning at 8in a First Gear Mesh-Tex at 78 on the bike LCD display, and home in a nice dry, truly not overly hot 98. Great day of 1.2 hours of riding in the HOV lanes of highways, before the heat really turns on the desert. I'll be swimming Saturday afternoon.

Robert:

I wondered about that too, but the snow took out the power lines to a number of the schools. There was a lot of tree damage in Calgary.

But we're back to normal now, no snow and nice and sunny.

"not overly hot 98"?! It was 92 here, with very low humidity. It was too hot. Once it hits 98, I'll drive my air conditioned truck. :) I guess this is similar to me going to Florida and the radio people saying "make sure your kids go to school with their coats, it's cold out!", while I'm outside very comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans, and considering shorts.

That sounds like my first winter in San Diego back in '82. All the locals are going around in ski jackets and such while I am wearing t-shirts and shorts. IIRC, the temperatures were mid-60s. My second winter down there, I covered up a bit by wearing a windbreaker and long pants. :p

You never heard the saying "it's a dry heat"? Too bad, have you ever heard of RealFeel temperature analysis? It is a full "like" wind-chill analysis based on dew point, baro pressure and temperature and when we run 98 here, RealFeel says it is like 90-92.

If you have not experienced Phoenix at 98 late in the afternoon when the sun is no longer directly overhead, you don't know what you are missing. Where it is so arid we get between 7 and 8 inches of rain a year, it is a dry heat, and easy to take when the sun is not glaring at you.:nyah
