Does anyone else on a rr find the bmw rear rack completely useless? i either need a different rack or a tail trunk that fits real nice. Any suggestions? My bike is an 02.

The guys on the R1150R.net forum have many top box solutions with install pics.
From the high end Givi's to the inexpensive JC Whitney's.

I use the Pirate's Backrest with the T-Bag for the hotel trips.

I don't like that one much. My wife uses the one from my origonal K12RS. If you don't stuff it full, it sags. She usually uses the back rack for the dog carrier now.

If you want a factory trunk case, the one for the K1200GT ifts perfectly...the hand holes in the rear racks on both bikes have the same dimensions for the case mount. I have one mounted on my "04 1150r and it works/looks great, although the literature that came with it says to keep it under 85 mph. I can post some pics if you want.

Made my own outa a piece of aluminum sheet ,the stuff w/a boiler plate pattern in it ..it usta be an end cap fer a p-up rinning board 10"x12" ..removed the stock rack ussed 2 pieces of alum stock 1"x1/4" to get above the lip on the brackets drilled&bolted in the appropriate spots & viola ..I epoxyed the stock to the plate as a stiffener & made a grab rail outa 5/16 steel round stock, covered it w/fuel hose then shrink tubing ..I also did a similar rack to fit the rear seat blanking cover it's 15"x11" w/both "frieghter plates" I can carry ooddles O stuff..sorry I can't do pics @ this time
