The clock in my '86 K100RS has been acting weird. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light.
I have done the 12 hour modification, and it works fine. Problem is that every once in a while, the display will go blank. It appears to "go to sleep" as it will stop advancing time, as when it comes back on, it comes back with the time that was on the display. Tapping on the instrument cluster will generally get it to come back to life (at least for a short period)
Having had the display totally apart (twice now) I would not figure it to be dirty contacts. I have cleaned them and just the act of dis-assembling and re-assembling should keep the clock contacts clean.
Is there something that I am missing...do the "zebra strips" need to be cleaned? If so with what? Everything else works, and works fine, it is just the darn clock....
Thanks, Joe
