It's less than a week now until the WCRM in Fortuna, CA. Sport touring riders come in all shapes and sizes so I'm welcome even on my R1200RT. The old beast is two years old now and has 36,000 miles on her. She got a fresh set of Bridgestone B21 tires replacing the B20's that lasted 12,000 miles. The bike was also freshly tuned by the same independant shop, D&S Cycles in Beaverton, OR. This shop doesn't sell bikes but concentrates on service and parts. They do all the services on local police R1200RT bikes. The set of tires and a major service was only $525.

One of my reasons for attending the WCRM is it's location near the Avenue of the Giants, a 30 mile stretch of giant redwood trees famous for their size and beauty. My traveling partner and I have 11 days to ride the 860 mile round trip so we're in no hurry. I look forward to meeting all the online friends I've made as well as riding the Avenue of the Giants.

Make sure you ride out to the Lost Coast. It's amazing out there. One of the finest sections of road in the state is just south of the Avenue of the Giants, as well; Hwy. 1 between Legget and the coast.

Be sure to take pictures, man!

Kbasa - I'll be wearing a BulletCam connected to a DVR good for 12 hours of recording. I'll also be carrying my trusty Nikon L1 digital camera for snapshots. There will be a ride report forthcoming.

I was in Fortuna last Friday. It was where I picked up 36. I doubt I passed 5 cars on the way to 5. It was bliss.
