Want to ride in the Catskills with some of the most perfect weather of the season?

Meet in Margaretville around 10:00

Meet at the Bun & Cone

Tessler says it is very easy to find.

Be flexible with your timing, if anything err on after 10.

Bun and Cone Address: 86 Bridge
Margaretville, NY 12455

Telephone: 845-586-4440

Margaretville is right on the edge of the Catskills. Riding should be outstanding. The route will be planned after the riders refuel at the Bun & Cone.

The meeting time has now slipped to noon, more or less, so hopefully more folks can join the Rip Van Winkle Ride.

Meeting place is now in Margaretville at the Bun and Cone diner. Come on out on this beautiful and get your motorcycle and mug in the group picture.

Yesterday's ride planning provoked some interesting conversation around the lunch table.
Keith was intrigued by this internet connection between our members. Yesterday, he stepped out of the HD and into the BMW fold.
Logically, he assumed that my invitation involved a number of familiar riding friends getting together.
At lunch, I make the admission that I had, in fact, never met the participants person to person. Chris and I arrived at his home and, of course, appeared to be old riding buddies. Again an admission, only the second time that I had seen Chris.
I mentioned that my most distant forum contact, with a subsequent meeting, was PaCWestGS (Russ).
Being from opposite sides of the country, we had met in Boise and then again in Paonia and Vermont. Interesting that we met at these rallies, but had not ridden as a group from point to point.
Familiar motorcycling friends, yes; but not in the manner which he had envisioned.
This logically led to a conversation about the power of the MOA forum.

Yesterday's impromptu tour involving riders from Maryland to Northern New York confirmed his notion that BMW owners are truly long distance riders.

On the next nice day that we are all free we can run a search party through the area. I would like to ride some of those long sweepers on Rt 30 and 28 again. I think I scraped a peg twice or kicked up a small stone. :laugh

The area is magical, maybe Washington Irving was writing non-fiction after all ? :violin
Stat! Where were you guys? We were at the Bun and Cone promptly at 12:30 pm and waited until 1:30. No cell phone service (thus, no messages waiting). Had Navy Bean soup in honor of Paul's service to the nation.

At 1:30 we headed East to Bellaiyre figuring we'd get some cell reception, but alas, still couldn't dial in to your number. Took county 47 South from Big Indian to Oliverea and Frost Valley, then down to Unionville and around the Roundout Reservoir. Heading East on 55 we passed thru the Minnewaska, down past the 'Gunks, around the hairpin then up to New Paltz for Coffee and refreshments. Refreshed, we topped off the tanks, and I took the Thruway South to NYC and Paul North to Ballston Spa.

A beautiful day (albeit a tad chilly up around aptly named Frost Valley) :thumb

Motard, sorry we didn't get a chance to meet. There will certainly be other! Take care and glad you had a good ride yesterday.

Mr. B contemplates the elbow protection in his Belstaff jacket just prior to descending 55 around the hairpin.

It sounds cluster disconnect syndrome to me :doh Glad everyone had a good safe time.. I can't wait to join the next connect the dotted lines rally in the Catskills.

Cluster disconnect syndrome - not really. I was on the road before the plans were 100% solidified. We discovered that the assumed mobile phone service was about non existent. I guess something to keep in mind when visiting more remote areas. The term more remote and New York State seem an odd combination.
I might add, the ride brought back many memories. I attended SUNY Delhi in the late 60s. The ride covered many of the old weekend party destinations.
Any forumites attend SUNY Oneonta before the 18 to 21 law change and before "Urban renewal" wreaked havoc on Oneonta's pubs.

Paul and others, looks like a great ride and some good times.

I am from the NY cap. dis. area, and I hope to make it up for a few rides this summer. I'll have to look you all up.

LOL. The 18 - 21 drinking age era. I can barely remember it.

Dusk near the Catskills. Deer o rama. Watch out.

:wave yes my invisible friends on the e-net :hug

You can ride thousands of miles solo and still find time to sit down with your friends in person and :drink a beer.

What could be better :dunno

The first time we learn what not to do. :banghead

The second time we learn what to do. :thumb

The third time we submit the results to ON! :dance

Order some extra paper and save space Vince.

The Bun and Cone in Maggyville (Margaretville) is highly recommended. Looks like they turned back the prices on the food. Service is friendly and there is a fair sized parking lot.

We shall return and beat lemons into lemonade.
