Hubert Kriegel is one great guy and is "the man" as far as I am concern. He is traveling the world with his GSPD and Hack over a ten year journey. Hubert has lived a car less life, he was a courier, took clients around by sidecar and passionately traveled during his career. He is a devoted family man and will be a wonderful friend to any a traveler. Hubert is quiet person, shy at first and will become a full of life conversationalist, passionate yet humble once he knows you. I had the pleasure to meet him twice or three times over the past 35 years. Hubert has ridden in the African and Middle East deserts when jaunts to the Continent were less common than the Paris-Dakar Rally. He has been in the presence of Kings and those that were princes upon the earth.
Hubert is now in Chile and moving northward. If you see him please give the kind man a hand , a wave, or enjoy his company. His travels and blog are available below. The photographs with stories are first rate. You may wish to contact him to encourage him, or thank him for inspiration. You will love the glasses, his trademark.............enjoy. www.thetimelessride.com click on the flag of choice.

Be well...

His journey is further north now. He recently took the road of death.
The pictures from that road are INSANE! ... when do you want to go? :p

When we both have Airhead GSPDs. :thumb
Ah! Hey, I'm ready to make a purchase any time. You already have a GS, but if it needs to be an Airhead (always a good choice!), go ahead and pick one up. Labrador can be the test run, and then off to the Road of Death. :thumb

I have been in touch with Hubert, his email yesterday said he was headed to Kiruna which is located in the north of Sweden, 145 kilometer north of the Arctic circle. The only trouble he is experiencing is condensation in his bike fluids since it is so cold. He is correcting it and paying close attention as he travels.
Drop him an email, it gets lonely on the road.
Here is how they mark the Arctic circle. :)

I will send Hubert an email... But that is still one crazy MO FO.. Look at how cold that road looks!

What kind of hack is that? Anyone know if a a GS take a sidecar without custom mounts?
I'd like to know more about his outfit and how he rigged up the sidecar for storage. Does he have a website?

Hello Van
I think its a Ural sidecar for all of his journeys.
His site is www.thetimelessride.com There is alot information to mine but contact him directly if you wish to save time. He is an MOA member and would enjoy sharing the road.
His original setup was a R 100 GSPD but for Russia he is using a Ural bike. I am not sure why he decided to leave the GSPD behind this time, perhaps parts availability in Mongolia and beyond. :dunno
Ural prep here http://www.thetimelessride.com/US/Transition%20folder/home-France-08-Geneve.htm just click on the photos and enjoy.
All the best

The man re-doing the frame in Hubert's open heart silde show, James, is my own dear old dad. The other guy in the green t-shirt is John from grassroots bmw.

The Arctic Circle picture is an old one. Hubert is using a Ural now after many mods. Unless something changed and he is back with his old hack. Last I heard or read he was on the Ural.
I met him in NY going to Antique motorcycle rally near Rhinebeck Aerodrome. He had his entourage of friends in a parking lot trying tighten up the sidecar attachment points. He also had with him his friend Milou, his beloved four legged friend. I didn't know who I met until he got to the rally and unloaded the bike and then I saw all the stickers.
