Holly wishes she could order meals in Spain, I wanted to fill up my tank in France, plus as a Brit in the USA, sometimes I find you've done something to English that just leaves me dumbfounded.
I hope that we can get a collection of useful phrases going under this thread. Not necessarily the text book phrases, more the one's you've picked up on the road.
Don't worry about spelling, phonetics will do, after all we'll be saying them not writing them.
I'll kick off with:
French-fait le plan
English-fill her up
followed by
merci beaucoup
thanks very much
Combien?
How much?-Usually followed by a gasp and a scurry for more euros.
Spain-Dos Cerveza
2 beers (bottles)
Dos tins-
2 beers from the pump-cheaper.
Gracias-usually followed by a gulp, then another.
Fr-Un pression- a beer from the pump
USA-Yowl not b'firm theez ear pards
UK- Are you local and can you play banjo?
