...on my 85 K100RS. Actually it worked for a few minutes and than blanked out taking the neutral light with it.
I'm pretty good at remembering which gear I'm in and 'feeling' out neutral is becoming second nature... but this is silly. How do I go about replacing this switch? And where is it located?

Did you wash your bike today? Often water seeps into the gear indicator thingy on the back of the tranny, shorting out the points.
The older the bike, the more likely the plastic housing on the "gear indicator thingy" (sorry if I'm too technical with the jargon) has decomposed. I've seen it suggested many times in this forum to replace the "thingy" when this problem develops. It's supposed to be a relatively inexpensive part, but not particularly easy to access and replace.
