I'm starting a solo on my R1200RT from Melbourne, Fl on May 23rd to Bremerton, WA to board the ferry to Haines, AK. The route out will be mostly southern untill reaching the west coast states, thence north to Bremerton. My wife will join me for 2 weeks riding in AK, and we'll ferry back to Bremerton in Mid-July. Thence I'll return to FL via the northern states National Parks.

Since I did the Iron Butt National Parks, East, last year enroute to/from the rally in Burlington, I just thought I'd fill out the dance card with the remaining states this summer. I won't complete all 49 within the same year, but I WILL do 49.

Anyone interested in riding a segment with me? Or, perhaps some coffee along the way?:wave

if you're coming through western NC (asheville area) give me a shout... but you're probably headed west of there.

Ian

Thanks for the invite....won't be your way on the way out, but, return trip is a possibility. That would be early August probably. I was thinking about a run thru the "Gap" since its not too far off the track. Keep in touch.........Chuck

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

I had seen your thread the other day and am glad you responded. I arrive in Haines on July 2nd and depart on July 17th. Route is Haines Junct.,Tok Fairbanks, Denali, Anchorage, Caribou, thence Tok and Haines Junct again. I'll have the confuzer with me so we might be able to keep up with each other.

If you're on a GS you MUST ride the Denali Highway (Cantwell to Paxson). It was my favorite ride when I lived up there. The blackberry pie at Gracious House at the Susitna River bridge is a must as well.
Have a blast and take more pictures than you think appropriate.

Crossing south Texas is a little too daunting for me, solo on the RT. Last time, on a transit from San Antonio to El Paso in a big cage my wife and I both fell asleep, at the same time. She was driving and the cop didn't site her because "It's not against the law to sleep while driving in Texas" I've heard that "Drunk Parking" is OK, too. The rental car was trash; they don't last like they used to!

So.....I'll be crossing Texas north of Amarillo! ;)
