I was taking one of my Friday rides this past week and near the end of it I took a road I had been eying for a while. As you come down the San Marcos Pass towards Santa Barbara on the 150 there is a tiny fire road named Camino Cielo (Sky Way, if I remember by high school Spanish.) It runs about 14 or 15 miles and terminates down into Romero Canyon in one the expensive neighborhoods of SB.

It is narrow with some pretty good drop offs in some areas, and is more patch and pothole than pavement, but if you get to the top you have spectacular views of the canyons on one side and SB running down to the Pacific on the other. Also, about 1/3 of the way up, you drive past a de facto shooting range and for about 1/2 mile past it you get the distinct feeling you are vulnerable to ricochetor poorly aimed shot. However this past Friday it was beautiful and warm to the east of the ridge and foggy, damp and cool on the SB side:

It made for some cool pix.

Dean... what kind of secondary screen is that on your C? I have an 87 C, and am looking for more protection. That looks like a good option. The bike and ride pics look great. Thanks for posting.

Laminar Lip, I bet.

Hey Dean, you didn't happen to buy that bike at A&S, did you?

KBasa called it. It is a Laminar Lip, it has been really great. I am about 6'3" and this pushes MOST of the air/turbulence over my head.

I bought the bike used and abused and cleaned it up....there is a thread somewhere on the K forum back a couple of years where I documented cleaning it up. It spent quite a bit of time near the beach and was cruddy and corroded.
