Hi folks-

Just wondering if anyone knows how the heck to replace the wire that connects to the oil pressure sending unit on a '85 K100RT. Mine is very brittle over the years and I have the new one ready but can't for the life of me see where it connects to the engine harness or where to route it. It seems to disappear into the engine somewhere. None of my manuals show it, nor the BMW ETK software that I have.

Much appreciation-

Brahma

The wire passes thru a hole in the side of the water pump housing, then is routed up to the top of the engine underneath the "T" shaped cover on the front of the engine. At the top of the engine, I believe it then travels up the right frame spar to the area near the coolant filler cap.

I just looked at the situation, and it looks hairy. Do you know if the whole front engine cover needs to come off too to replaceit, or once the ignition cover is off, can it be 'snaked" through to where it comes out of the water/oil pump?

I'd hate to take all the covers off to just replace that wire....

Thanks-

The whole front engine cover should not need to come off, just the t-shaped cover attached to the front engine cover.

The easiest way to do it is to use the old wire to pull the new wire through.

Excellent! That is exactly what I was hoping for....
