After all the hard work you did. . .you musta really been crankin' on that thing to break the throttle cable! Seriously. . .any noticeable difference in performance? The high-gear acceleration should be much better than it was. How long did ya ride it before the cable broke?
I've never done a cable replacement--let me know when you do it--I wouldn't mind looking over your shoulder again--Had a good time! I've got a shop manual PDF I can e-mail ya (the whole thing). It's a big file, but if you have high speed internet it shouldn't be a problem.

that pdf should explain things pretty clearly as they are hard to explain online. getting the cable off the twist grip is easy, getting it out of the bowden box under the tank is the hard part. actually just getting the box in a position that you can take it apart is difficult. make sure you lube the nubs on the ends of the cable and re-synch your tbs after cause they will be knocked out of synch when you take apart the bowden box. also make sure you check that the cables from the bowden box to the tbs are seated properly at the throttle bodys. one of the sheaths pulled up and it took me a minute to figure out why the bike was behaving so strangely.

Here's a tip: You do not have to have the fast idle cable disconnected at the lever when you pull the Bowden box out of the right side . There is enough slack to get to the box with the fast idle cable attached.
