:wave Riding in southern Minnesota commuting 60+ miles early last week was full of hazards, the cages are not used to SEEING anything on two wheels, so it was "look at me, look at me" time when riding. the dust on the roads and corners always kept me in the "dog turns" mode (when driving an open bed pickup with dogs in the rear, one makes turns designed to keep from throwing the mutt out of the back of the pickup...thus the term "dog turns").

But the best of the hazards were the cock phesants, one in particular on the three days I made my way from Nerstrand to New Prague, this dumb cock phesant was holding his own IN THE SAME PLACE EACH DAY not abiout to give up his position and stature until the last moment when I came by.

I had a 80 somthing old guy in the New Prague bakery tell me that "the pheasants are picking gravel up for their gizzards...with the snow and all you know you know, they could not find rocks over the last month for their little gizzards to grind the food you betcha for sure"

Not Excatly that bad in terms of Minnesota slang, but what the hell..almost!

Anyway, the rides were delightful, my back route is always a please. The attached pic IS NOT last week, but last March with my 11 yr old on behind, ready for a big ride with his ol dad!

Your "dog turn" term reminds me of my first Border Collie. He took the dreaded plung out of the back at about 30 mph in a corner. After that he would always ride with his nose pressed against the slider window begging to get into the cab if the speed climbed above 20mph. Of course I would always let him in, mostly because he would have tore the back window apart to get in.

After a winter without traction and visibility in the cars... Minnesota drivers become aggressive with their new found abilities. Over confident to the point of not noticing the smaller visual movements of motorcycles.

Remind that Pheasant he's an invasive species and can be subject to the same status as the zebra mussel, or put him on the back of the bike and take him for a series of "dog turns".
