Which would win in a drag race?

I know it's a damn stupid question, but what the hell?

The winner would be the one that I was NOT piloting.

Neither. We just go like hell on the highway!

I am a /7 owner and have ridden many /6's and worked on them, too. The improvements in the /7 probably give it the edge here, imo.. They seem to shift smoother than the /6's and thats about it. The near 100cc difference is almost not noticable, I would say. They both came with the heavy flywheels, which I still prefer to this day. Good day...:)

The R100RS would STOMP the R90S. When it comes to the basic slash units it would almost all depend on the rider. I say we put it to the test. I'll judge if anyone wants to race. GO!

Road tests from Cycle show the following:
1976 90S (3:1 rear end) did a 13.18 1/4 mile at 102mph.
1977 RS (3:1 rear end) did a 13.33 1/4 mile at 99 mph.
1977 R100S (2.9 rear end) did a 12.97 1/4 mile at 103 mph.

I own a '75 90S and a '78 RS. The 90S feels a lot faster. It did 130mph (indicated) whereas the best the RS can do is 115 mph indicated.

I've been riding both of my bike;'75R90S&'78R100RS for years and I'd suggest that the 90S has more "ooompth" then the RS. I consider it my "hooligan bike" to terrorize the nearby rural area. Just my humble mumbles.jim:bliss

I have both an 90/6 and an R100RS (twin shock). I'd have to go with the RS. They both might get of the line together, but the RS is the only one I'd like to be on when the speed gets past 80 MPH. Nothing in that time period compares with RS fairing. Besides, who does 1/4 drag races with a Beemer? They are made for the long ride.

I have an R90/6 and my dad has a '77 R100RS. After riding both I seem to think that the R90 has more low end "grunt" than the RS, but I'd rather be on the RS at speed.

Besides, who does 1/4 drag races with a Beemer? They are made for the long ride.

Besides, Dave H made a very good point :brow
