Allow me to take a little slice of humble pie and say, Outlook 2002/XP is not being real intuitive. I am trying to send e-mails to the IBMWR list and keep getting the response of

Your mail, submitted to the BMW motorcycle mailing list, is being returned to you. It was trapped by one of our list filters - in this case, one which noted the presence of a "quoted-printable" character set. Presence of these characters totally ruins the formatting of the email digest which is read by a large portion of our subscribers.

Please reconfigure your mailer to NOT send "quoted-printable" encoded messages. In many cases, this results from having configured your mailer to send messages using "Styled Text". If you need assistance with this, please contact the technical support staff for your ISP or your email software, IBMWR cannot provide that to you (we're Beemer nuts, not tech support personnel!).

I went in and selected send as Plain Text and keep getting the response back. What makes it more interesting is that some get through and others don't.

Anyone got any ideas on how to change the configuration to make it do this? Before the response of kill Outlook comes back.. I have looked at others and to synchronize with the iPaq both here and at the office Outlook is the least problematic.

Yup, I am fully expecting something small I missed, but I did RTFM.

You can set Outlook to always respond to a particular party as plain text. You'll need to add the mailer as a contact and then configure how they like to recieve their mail from their profile in Contacts.

I think.

Dave-

You are correct. By double clicking on the receipent's address in the "To Bar" one can define how they will receive the mail. The default is "Let Microsoft Outlook Decide" I changed it to Plain Text

Sometimes there are perks to working on software... we are Microsoft Devnet participants. So after finally getting frustrated enough, I logged onto the Devnet site at work and queried out an answer.

The reason it is sending 8bit is cause I was using Word as my editor not the integrated Outlook editor.

So if you are getting the same messages, change your editor in Outlook to Outlook.:clap :clap

Gotta love quirky software.
