Well, this marks the "official" end of the riding season.http://204.193.156.25/forum/smiles/bawling.gif We are having one whale of a regional storm; we have at least 18" of snow down while people we've talked to 60 miles away have 1" on the ground. Wierd storm for sure.
My bike is tucked safely in the gargage but I never quite got around to do the "winterizing" thing just yet. I usually try to get some fuel stabilizer in it and fill the tank which I can still do, but will have to wait for a clear day with no ice and no salty roads to run the stabilizer through the system and then put my bike down for a long winter's nap.
It has been snowing hard since Friday noon time and is not expected to end until tomorrow. Check out the Patriots/Miami game tomorrow if you want to see what it looks like at my house; I live five miles from the stadium as the crow flies.
Ho hum...bah humbug. Big drifts out there with 40 mph winds in this nor'easter.
Well, here on the left coast we're having one heck of a light rain :evil
Bought some Gerbings Gloves for the winter, not sure I'll get to use 'em, been pretty mild. Close to 70 yesterday.
California politics really suck but the weather is just fine:thumb (right Kbasa?)

Kook:
I am dreading our first significant snow of the season. We rode today, 21 degrees at 7:30. Then a meteoric rise to a balmy 36.
It was fun, but in the back of my mind I was thinking about all of you on the east coast.
It won't be long until the snow is gone.

In case you didn't happen to catch any of the Miami/New England game today, the last of the snow finished in the 1st half for a total of 28". We had howling winds with the Nor'easter and I had 5' drifts on my driveway.
We got all of 28", that's for sure. Wowzers we took it on the nose on this one.
I did get a new toolbox (Wedding anniv. 12/6) which I spent a fair amount of time unpacking and organizing. I have been working out of a number of small boxes so it's pretty cool to get everything in one big rolling box. Got these two:

Kook,
Congradulations! How long have you been married? I just got married and I hope to have many wonderful anniversaries.
Thanks,
Michael

R75/7: Saturday completed seventeen years of bliss. As I like to point out, it's really 119 "marriage years" since years of marriage can be like "dog years"; one calendar year is seven years of living. My wife has given me two beautiful children and a wonderful life. We had some easy times http://204.193.156.25/forum/smiles/next/luv.gif and some rough times http://204.193.156.25/forum/smiles/spank.gif, but I realized that if I just always agree with her, and accept that she's the boss, we get along great. Every once in a while when she is throwing a nutty, I remind myself of the survival technique that I was taught in grade school, as I hid under my desk in a duck and cover drill, I was taught to never look directly at the blast. That has helped to keep my eyes from melting and my ears from imploding and my marriage happy and blissful. Yea that's the ticket. Now, where are the rest of those tools I need to organize, I can see a mushroom cloud forming...

19 years for me and MrsK.
Marriage can be a wonderful thing, but like your bike, it takes a little maintenance from time to time to keep from grinding to a halt.

I sympathize with you, Kook! If the storm had gone a bit north it would've gott us, too. I'm well acquainted with 6-to-10 inches of partly-cloudy, and also lake-effect snow. I can see Lake Michigan from my kitchen. I suppose it is about time to change the air in the vehicle tires. You know, put the winter air in..... Hang in there, spring IS coming, just not soon enough.

Well, through a calamity of errors today that began with my beater (a '75 GMC) disentegrating on my way to work, I ended up riding the bike in. We had MASSIVE amounts of rain here yesterday (my basement is flooded to prove it) and then big winds last night dried it out some. Black ice this morning so I took my "winter beater" which lost the left rear axle U-bolts (they were rusted through and fell off) when I hit a big pot hole. I managed to avoid losing the axle and having it walk out as I gently drove the truck back here to the shop where I will pick away at it over the next few days in an attempt to get it back on the road by Christmas. Dang!
All this brought me to the only remaining mode of transportation that wasn't yet put away for winter; Das Beemah. http://204.193.156.25/forum/smiles/rdr.gif
You should have seen the looks I got http://www.oldgmctrucks.com/smilies/youcrazy.gif http://204.193.156.25/forum/smiles/next/eee.gif both going in and coming home from work on the bike today/tonight. I should do this more often. Needless to say, with black ice all over and still a lot of snow around, I was the only bike on the road today. I don't think I could have gotten as many amazed looks if I were riding in a Santa Suit!
Ain't life grand? Managed to fill up the tank to the brim and will put some stabilizer in it and then see when the next break in weather comes to cirulate the system and put it away for it's nap.
:idea Maybe this will be the winter we keep riding right on through!:dunno
