Has anyone fit an RS fairing on a R90/6? It seems to me a lot of /6's can be bought for low dough, while R100RS's are big dollars in comparison. I'm just wondering if this is a project I can do or should I save some more and buy an RS.:dunno

It can be done. I did this to my 75 R90/6 back in 1985. You will have to remove the data plate on the steering head so the fairing mount can be installed on the bike.

Great, do you have any pics of the finished product?

You'll also need new bars and won't you need to consider new cables? It would also see to me that you'll need some kind of extension off the wiring harness to power the headlight and turn signals in the fairing.

You will need to change to the RS bars. I didnot change cables or wiring harness. I rerouted the cables and reposition harness so I could go back to stock when I wanted to. If you bike does not have a fairing on it the stock headlight will mount to the fairing mount and you not have to remove any wiring from the headlight. I did have to make longer wires for the turn signals.

The RS fairings are BIG dough and paint done correctly is also big dough, then figure in the mounting hardware price of the lens etc . For a nice sporty look without a lot of money (compared to the RS) I might suggest that you consider a "S" fairing.

If you want a full fairing there are not many to be able to put on our bikes like their use to be. When I put my RS fairing on I knew my dealer and he let me have it a little above cost for all the parts I need. Back then it was around $650.00. In 1982 when I bought my R65 I looked into get the RT fairing that BMW had in their kits, that was going around $900.00 with out paint. I was able to do my own painting.

Hannigan still makes fairings and they look "period" on the /6. Mine came with one.

There is never a shortage of Luftmeister and Vetter fairings available in any color you could imagine......and some colors you don't want to imagine. :laugh

If I were to need a new fairing for one of my bikes I would go with this
