Is there something wrong with that?!? I got in the habit of writing down every gas stop from doing Iron Butt rides (required documentation)... I even jot down notes of where I am, begin/end of a trip, etc. It's kind of entertaining to look back at. I've been doing it for years... so I have a few mini-spiral bound notepads of info :)

What Meisco posted is about right, even tho a lot depends on how you ride, and the air temperature of the environment, tall or short wind screen, wide saddle bags,.....etc.
Currently I am experimenting on my '05 1200GS........
I have replaced the stock 1200GS rear end 2:82 gear set up with an '05 RT rearend 2:62 gear setup.
RPM's have dropped by an average of 500 compared to the original GS gearing at the same speeds.
For example at 80mph's with the stock GS gear, the engine was turning 4600 rpm's.
With the RT rearend,80mph's allows the engine speed of 4100rpm's.
Hopefully higher gas mileage will result.
Between the new job and the snow/ice/salt recently here in Chicago, testing has been halted...
But so far the bike seems more "tame" and less "torquey" and more managable at low speeds.
And "yes"...I like it better!!!
