I'm thinking about purchasing a 1999 R1100RT with appox. 25K miles. Any issues with this bike I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Bob

Not really - assuming it has been well maintained.

Read this thread all the way to the end. Carefully check how the bike shifts! (up and down).

Got some more reading for you:

I love my Y2K RT. Bought it with 7 thousand on the odo. Now up to 49 thou. Flawless so far & it just keeps getting better.

Just like your '01 1150 GS, the 1100s require careful throttle body synchronization and valve adjustments to keep them running nice & sweet.

You're gonna love that fairing!

I put 50k on my 99RT with no problems except for a fork seal . Traded for another GS.

After riding that GS, You won't like the RT unless it's cold & raining:wave

After riding that GS you're gonna love being nestled in a bubble of calm air behind that adjustable windshield (a Cee Bailey's #2 Euro really does the trick).

No more cruel buffeting and deafening wind noise. You can actually hear the boxer purr as you motor along, ready for anything the elements decide to throw at you. Even the tires are quieter.

90 mph on the RT will feel like 55 mph did on the GS. You'll start riding 800 mile days, before lunch.

You can store things in that cute little locking fairing pocket that GS owners can only dream about. Hooligans will no longer leave empty beer cans setting on your beak.

You will not be required to splash your bike with mud in order to look cool, and you will never again have to fear dropping it while fording creeks.

I LOVEEEE My 99rt. 5 gears, easy to work on, bullet proof, plenty of power, east miles like potato chips., look great, easy to drive (I swear the bike has conformed to my body since I bought it last summer. I have 45 thousand on my bike now and it is still tight and strong.

:lurk

I just bought a '99 R1100 RT from Daytona last week. The only thing I've been a little concerned about is the transmission. Mine shifts OK but it could shift better and will after I give it a Tune-Up next month. (Not the engine the transmission!) I've owned several old R's and a couple of K100's. The R1100 I like much better. It feels lighter than what I expected (and compared to the K100's). I got 43-45 mpg at 70-80 mph last week. BMW says 50 mpg @65 mph on the '99's. I wouldn't expect the bike to be hurt with only 25,000 miles.

Good luck!
