I just read the review of the R1200R. It is refreshing to see such a wonderfully refined "naked" bike. I was a bit worried when I saw the front end of the K bike “R”. It looks like our German friends are still creating exceptionally exquisite machines. While I appreciate the protection of a fairing, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the traditional roaster beemer.

I am a bit skeptical about the Automatic Stability Control. In the 90s, the Honda ST 1100 ABS-TCS got mixed review with its traction control. Many people ended up turning it off. After watching the torque on motorcycles increase over the years, the thought of automatic traction control seams like there may be a bit of separation from the brain to the throttle to the back tire. I'm not at the age where I feel the need to ride wheelies, but I do appreciate the natural ability to flex the rubber on the pavement. I would imagine it would give more options for different riding styles and weather conditions. It also sounds like a great compliment to ABS.

It took me a few years to get past the pulse and click of the first generation anti-locks. The Integral ABS technology sound absolutely fantastic. The new breaks seem a long way from squeezing the front break and hoping it sticks…but not too much. They are certainly a long way from dragging your toes while riding the old bicycle with training wheels.

I guess I'll learn new ways to GO just like learned new ways to STOP.

I just saw one the other day on the road. Actually I saw it in a convenience store parking-lot, so I got to talk to the owner. He LOVES it! Of course he also admitted that it was his first motorcycle, a gift from his wife. He had a buddy on an Aprilia with him, so I hope they behaved.
The bike looked great up close, and it had the 'classic' black & white paint. The pinstripes looked handpainted too.

With a gift like that, I hope he loves his wife as much as he loves his first motorcycle.

I don't know, that is a tough one. I might have to go with loving the bike more. :bolt
