The Getrag m-94 is on the bench getting ready to make the journey to Rubber Chicken Racing and that clutch is staring right at me.
I want to be sure that clutch will get my wife and I to West Bend in July to meet all you folks. How do I measure it on the bike?

the time spent taking the bike apart is enough of a reason to replace the clutch for me. i ordered mine before i took the bike apart for a rear main seal replacement. the clutch in the bike wasn't oil fouled and was within 1mm of thickness of the new one at 30K miles. i think i'll just put it back in next time i go in there for a spline lube:) use the rivets as a guide, i'd replace it if the metarial is worn down that far. i honestly can't remember what the spec is though and can't seem to find it online anywhere.............

Hard to measure with the clutch still on the flywheel. The minimum thickness for the friction plate is 4.5 mm or 0.177 in. Use a pair of vernier calipers or a micrometer to measure it. Keep in mind, if you do pull it off to check it, you need to replace the bolts as the are one time use only, same goes for the flywheel bolts if its removed from the crank.
Last time I had mine apart to check and lube the splines, I pulled the clutch and flywheel also after noticing a minor leak from the crank seal. The clutch still had lots of wear left, so I just put it back together. So far I have over 100,000 Kms on this clutch, so they can last a good long time if not abused and kept adjusted properly.

I just did my clutch at 100,000 miles. Before I took it apart, I pulled the starter and very carefully measured the thickness of the disc. I was told that didn't work. When I tore it down, I found that I was right on the money. I was actually a bit under the minimum service limit with no signs of slippage.
I had a piece of paper around somewhere with the before and after dimensions of the clutch plate thickness.:dunno If I can come up with it, I'll post the thickness dimensions of a new disc.

OK. Mine measures 0.210"/5.33mm in total thickness, average of 0.025"/0.64mm to rivet tops. I cannot find original thickness or depth to rivet head dimensions in the factory manual or Haynes.
Has anyone found their measurements for the new friction disk?
Thanks

I found the piece of paper. My old one measured 0.171 in and the new one measured 0.229 in. That's 4.3 mm and 5.8 mm

Great! Mine is about 1/4 worn then. Back in the bike it goes. Thanks for your help everyone.
