At idle when engine is warm there is what seems to be a jump in the idle(97 r1100rt 36k),there are not any error codes and everything is adjusted. What can I do to check for an air leak in the intake?
Thanks, Tim

Spray some WD 40 on the bellows gasket that connects the throttlebody to the head. Then check the exhaust for a light blue smoke. Another indication that the gasket is leaking is the throttle bodies won't hold a synch at higher rpms. I had to have the gaskets replaced on my 97 GS this summer. JON

Lowrider, Does the bike miss or cough sometime under load? Is it a heavy miss or a little flutter at times at idle? If its a flutter , that sometimes is pretty normal. These twins are not perfectly smooth , its kinda the character of the twin . If its a heavy miss, is it doing it all the time at idle consistantly or does it do it only sometime ?

Jody, No it doesn't cough or miss under load, It's more like a flutter than a hard hit. When at idle the rev needle will start to flutter low when it's happening than smooth out and then do it again. One time the bike did stall on me,but most the time it feels like it wants to stall but then picks up again.
And Jon thanks for info on wd40.

Have you changed spark plugs yet?

Yes I did and it seemed better for a while if memory serves me right, but the bottom line is it didn't last.
Thanks Tim

What is your idle speed? If it is to slow, it may run rough. It should be about 1100RPM. Valves set and all OK? It may be the O2 SENSER talking back to the brain box. Have fun and God bless.:idea
