Looking for someone who has first hand knowledge of the nuances of a trailer hitch, would be nice if one of you with a 2005 or newer RT had one. Like to know specifically how they attach, what the down side is, if any, and what problems you have had, if any. My wife and I are considering the purchase of a trailer.....I have searched the threads about which trailer is recommended. But I would like to know more about the hitches. TIA

I also have searched for a suitable trailer for my 2006 R 1200RT and have come to the conclusion to get a Uni-Go. Yes, it's kinda small but that's about all I need with the additional carrying capability the R has.

See: http://www.schoolhousemcacc.com/ and decide for yourself, also try to see the video.

Don't forget that BMW will instantly void your warranty if they see your bike have a hitch build in. That is if your bike is still under warranty and you need warranty work.

Dauntless offers one that is hidden when not in use. I love mine, now that I finally got it installed. I use it to pull a leisure light camper on my RT. They are also wonderful people to work with, A++ quality in the product as well.

Not necessarily true. Check with your dealer, mine didn't have any concerns with it.
