I just received and mounted an aftermarket aluminium bash plate for my airhead GS. It is made in small quantities by an individual in a small town in Minnesota. I found this on the Adventure rider site. It is a very high quality part. If you want to know more check out this thread on Adventure Rider:

Ernie who owns and manufactures these products also sells at the Pecatonica Flea Market (just outside Rockford Illinois). This event is held the last sunday in April. Great products and a great person. :thumb

You'll usually find Ernie at the GR3, Dells, and Hiawatha rallies, among others.
